My Albert Lee is making static-like crackling (fairly faint) when I touch the neck or middle pickup or the pickguard adjacent to them. No noise occurs when I touch the bridge pickup, the area around the selector switch or the pickguard above the 6th string.
The tone is normal. I checked it with 2 different amps and different cords, so I'm sure it's in the guitar.
Anybody else ever encounter something like this?
