Do these necks have the same profile/shape? Is the the Albert Lee guitar bigger than the Sub 1? I used to own a Sub 1 so that is what I am using for comparison. Thanks Frank

They are not the same. The SUB1 is very similar if not exactly the same size as the Silhouette Special. The Albert Lee is a little larger.

Here's a thread that Spud started that has the neck profiles from several EBMM guitars. As stated the Sub 1 neck was essentially a Silo Spec neck painted since the Sub 1 was based on the Silo Spec. The Al neck profile is for all intents and purposes the same as a Sub 1 or Silo Spec. The Al body isn't really bigger than a Sub 1, it is as you know a different shape and probably seems bigger but it's possible it does have a tiny bit more real estate. I don't know if the Al body is thicker than a Sub though, and I don't have an Al anymore, but I don't think it is. They weigh about the same.

Spuds Neck Profile Project

Interestingly, found in the above link on page three, a 1996 Silo Spec and a 1993 Albert Lee have the exact same profile specifications. Guess it's probable they have he same profiles today.

The Al is longer in total length than a sub 1. I have an older Silo case that my sub fits perfectly, an Axis barely fits with no trem bar and the Al is way too long to fit in.

Are you guys saying that the Silo is different than the Silo special? Does EBMM make any guitars that a large guy like myself won't dwarf?? (6'3" 300#)

Yep. The Silo is 24 frets and HSH, the Silo Special is 22 frets and SSS or SSH with a slightly different neck profile.

As for size ... lotsa big guys play EBMMs. Any of them might fit you just fine provided you like the feel of the necks. Some of them have larger bodies than others.
