Hi all,

I'm a newbie to this forum and to Music Man Ernie Ball in general.

I just played on a friend's Albert Lee and was very very impressed. Oddly, it doesn't have the Silent Circuit like on the other Alberts I've seen on the net (no plastic cover in the back).

It's a SSS hardtail in sunburst. Also the volume and tone knobs are Tele-type domes and not the usual Strat-type. Are they original?

Thank you for your expertise.:)

I am fairly certain the AL came without the silent circuit originally and it was added on later on. Get the serial and check it with EB customer services :D

Silent Circuit

I've got a '96 AL without the Silent Circuit, so it was added to them later than that. I've also got an '07 AL that has it, so somewhere in between it came into being. I'm thinking closer to '96 than '07. Pretty sure the dome knobs are not stock.

Yep, as said it wasn't offered originally. I've had two that I added it to. (If you find a secondhand Silent Circuit it's not hard to wire in.)

Thank you for your input.

Guess I'll have to live with the 60-cycle hum for a while .

The dome knobs look very much like the ones on the MM basses. Where can I find the original 'Strat' knobs? Are they identical to the F...r ones?

BTW I just learned that my AL is from 2001:D
