Could get a premium ash body, with a burst finish? Its the same theory as natural. I think that would be killer. Pacific Blue Burst on top of flame ash, or whatever premium ash is. That would just be insane.

nah, im into natural....im not all that particuallry attracted by flame or quilt tops..too pimp for me, i havent got the bootsy outfit yet.....i think plain natural is classy and sexy....although i really dig white with white pickguard with maple fingerboard, but only on the stingray 5 strangely
although, they all look sexy ...i almost creamed my pants the first time i saw the "build an instrument option", every bass website should have that

I can't explain it, but I did try to learn right handed... (ok, I tried a little), it just feels weak to me. On keys or the wind controller it makes no difference. I took up bass late in life too, I'm too old to learn anything righty.... there, I said it!
I'm not desperate, I just would really like to have one. I love my Sterling I have now and intend to keep it, but I'd also like to have a maple fretboard model too, so why not go for the gusto!
As a lefty, I was fortunate that when I took up bass, my bro'/teacher plainly warned me. That's why I evangelize to lefty newbies to avoid the abyss, cuz I owe it back to others for the benefit I received.strummer said:Ah, so that's what desperation sounds like

ive played an sr5 in that color/wood combo, was worn like a nice old 60's jazz, the color was more creme and a few dings...sounded and played so nice...although i think the SR5 would look alot hotter with a gold/mirror scratchplate....how come you dont see more stingray's worn like jaco's jazz?Moondog said:

Colin, my contact with Todd about the bass has only been a couple of short emails, so I haven't quizzed him about the recording history of the bass. I do know that it was (with the original fretted neck) Todd's main gigging bass for several years, and that the '76 dated fretless neck was added by a subsequent owner (Todd gave the bass to a guy who was the guitarist in the final Dragon lineup).
Here's a pic of Dragon on Countdown in the 1970's, with Todd playing this bass, with it's original maple fretted neck ...
