I know Lifeson was a big influence on JP, not sure if RUSH had any effect on the rest of the guys in DT.

I have a few iTunes of DT covers of RUSH songs. Theres also a lot of vids on YouTube.

The guys from Rush are also good friends of Steve Morse. During the 80's, RUSH made a tour with the Dixie Dregs. If I remember correctly, Steve Morse said that it was RUSH who chose the Dregs because they were fans.

I love that show, a true Canadian institution... just like Nickelback.

I’ve seen the episode where Ricky kidnapped Alex, but he was asked to play Diane Sawyer on a cheap acoustic.
Then there was Bubbles playing a roadie for Rush. Same show? I think not.
Don’t know how I missed that one as I believe I’ve seen them all.

Pretty cool though that Lifeson plays an Axis for warm-up.

Love the show, too. It's all from the same episode. Randy and Leahy buy all remaining tickets to the concert after the start a fight in the line. Bubbles is going to answer a radio contest question to become Alex's roadie. Randy steals the answer and wins the contest. That's when the kidnapping occurs and the fun begins from there. The ASS is only on screen for maybe about 5 seconds but it's there. I've been looking on Youtube but can't get anything at the moment.

Aha!! Result. I found the vid. It's at 5:43 Its an ASS with MM90's.:)

Thanks François for the Morse story. I’m guessing Lifeson & Morse have a mutual admiration for each other.

Thanks for finding that Scott. I’ve seen that entire episode but that 5 second bit just flew by too fast to even notice the Axis. Great catch.

For all you guys wondering who the hell The Trailer Park Boys are. Do a Goggle search for reference and if you can get them... rent or buy the DVDs. You’ll split your sides laughing.

Yeah man, that's the clip :D The concert scene, that's the ACC show in Toronto, one of the best show I've seen, and yes, "Tom Sawyer" was extra heavy, just like how it sounded on the video.
Classic scene: Bubbles wanting to know how alex play "Closer To The Heart", priceless :)

Lol that clip was hilarious! I'm gonna have to get these from Netflix now.

Definitely check them out. That clip was 3 of 3. Search on youtube for the other 2. Season 3, Episode 5. Funny episode.

Thanks for that piece of trivia. Thought it was filmed in a venue down east cause the show was made in Nova Scotia. But I didn't think there was an arena of that size in the Maritimes.

Azazael- don't bust anyone's balls for contributing to the forum.

I'd love to see Alex play an EBMM again. Talking to Glenn Booth (Ontario EBMM rep) last summer, sounded like he was working to get a few to Alex.

I love those guys. Grace Under Pressure was the first tour I ever saw, I haven't missed a show since. Looking forward to them in a few weeks.

That was my first show, as well! I guess we're showing our age...

VH1 aired the documentary on the 26th, I just happened to catch it, it was very good. Jack Black was hilarious. I've been listening to Rush for over 20 years now. My favorite band ever.

Big fan of Alex and RUSH.

I would be interested to see what Alex thinks about a Reflex/25th.

Rush and Big Al are the best! I'm a ridiculous Rush fan....

I've wondered the same thing about Al and the Reflex/25th. Seems that would suit him quite well. He's played so many different guitars over the years that the chambered/semi-hollow with the versatility to get so many sounds out of it just seems like a perfect fit for him.

Watching the Blu-Ray of BTLS right now; very good. I was a huge Rush fan as a developing musician (when I was in my early teens), they sort of lost me after Moving Pictures, but I did go to see them a few years back, and man, those guys can really still do it in concert. I walked away very impressed.

And I agree about Alex and the 25th; seems like a match made in heaven.

Exactly! I think a reflex/25th would cover his 70s tones well and have enough versatility for other eras and currently.

I think a Reflex would really suit him well too, when I tried one the Rush songs sounded amazing. Although he said he was trying out a chambered Les Paul in an interview, and he didn't like the sound as much as the normal Les Pauls. But then again, a LP ain't no Music Man :)

I've actually dialed in my Mesa Rectoverb to get very Alex Lifeson-ish sounds with my JP. That or I've gotten a good feel of the kinds of huge-sounding chords he uses and naturally implemented them into my playing.
