Untill today, I have knwo all the stingray has Gloss head and Oil finished backside of neck.
And, I got one more SR5 used, it's all Gloss .
Any idea of yours ?

Thank You. You just solved my worrisom. So many guesses occurred in my brain around lol.
My serial's 53*** and must be made around the time.
The necks used to be sealed with a clear coat (like yours) before changing to an oil and wax finish c.1992 for the SR4 and I think the SR5s was around the same time also.

Put a number of gunstock oil and wax coats on there (with buffing in between) and it begins to feel like the old sealed necks.

Yes, I had a teacher who had one of the earlier Stingray 5's with finished necks. It was nice.

I had an ES SR5 that had a finished neck, but I didn't think it was that old. Bought it on ebay. Didn't know about the forum back then, and didn't inquire with anyone about the SN-based details. Hmmm, weird. Anyway, I didn't mind the finished neck at all.

Oh Ho. I think finished neck's so different. Yeh, don't mind this one but little hm..... different. :O......
