I don't think I'm a wimp, so I must be a weasel because I really like my Phase 90 for some of the slower stuff that I play...then again, it might just be because I grew up in the 80s.

yeah I'm with the search for the perfect tone , the pure one and man , so many options , I have to say I really like the sound of an old BXR100 by Fender , it's a great basement amp.
I tried some Markbass and I really liked the sound out of them, and the light cab made me laugh I never had expected that.
I have this huge Peavey amp I've been kinda force to buy off a drummer of a former band that needed money to pay the rent and he had that amp for the practice space , a Peavey MAX 700 new Top Bass Amp Head with a 4x10 cab .. thing that sucks most tho is that I was trying to save for a ampeg , and I was kinda forced to take it ..... and never tried it with my Sterling .... I'm really am lookin' foward to hear that one , haha anyone tried one of those with a EB MM ??
oh and amp talkin' seriously who ever toyed with Pignose amps 7-100 .... hahah guys , that thing rocks !!! I played with it with the bateries and plugged sounds loud and really crunchy , but it's sooo fun , I played it with some Les paul guitar ( Hbck and P90) , my Silo, and I have to say it realy gives a new sound dimension to my guitar, then I got cocky and pluged the Sterling in that lil monster .... MAN IT WAS AWESOME ! don't crank it too much cause you'll get just bad distortion and prolly will rip the speaker .... for a practice amp in ANY room , it rocks , I'm taking that lil baby out in the streets to the Montreal Jazz Fest this friday with the Bass ! if anyone has a chance to check hem out , seriously it's worth the look ! no perfect sounds , but it gives a sound you wouldn't get anywhere !

I'm not sure what school I am, but if it's like all the other schools, I'll most likely drop out...
I haven't fired up the SVT for quite some time now, but the LMII stays warm!

Picked up a MB 2x10 combo today (traded in my SWR). Still working on that "settings" thing but I this thing rocks. Very tight sound. My GK is still my gigging amp but I think practice belongs to MB.
As far as the components verse combo goes. I like both. In this case (trading in my practice amp), I needed something light and loud. I could have grabbed a LMark and a 2x10 but moneywise the combo made sense for almost identical components. I've got more choices of what I can do with my GK but lets face it, all I need to do is slap a MB 1x15 under this combo and I could play almost anywhere and get a killer variety of tones to go with it (I might even slap one of my Neo 2x12s under it to test the water). It is all in what you are looking for and what you feel comfortable paying.
