so i just got a dozen sets of stainless steal slinkys... 1/2 super slinkys, 1/2 of em hybrids. i thought id give the hybrids a whirl.

ok ... so turns out if you slap a set of stainless steal hybrid slinkys on an SR4 hh and plug it into a Little Mark 2 --> aguilar gs410 it sounds awsome :)

i cant wait to string up one of my sterlings with some hybrid stainless and see how awesome that sounds. oh... and the 30th sr4 would probably kill with these strings.

wow! makes me want and HS Sr4 even more.

honestly, its worth a try. i love this combo of mm/stainless hybrid/little mark :)

I can remember when I switched to stainless steel strings. I don't think I'm ever going to go back to nickel. The sound and tone that I got out of my bass was exactly what I was looking for. It was very articulate, bright but full of bottom end, and I like the way they felt when I played. They really did have that "piano" sound that I was looking for.

Welcome to the stainless world my friend!

Oh, my apologies!

I've yet to try EB steel. So far I've played Two Letters (hated them) and Famous Italian Name (like them). I have high expectations for the EBs when I finally get my Bongo 5. I might give the Hybrids a try, but I'm more at home on smaller gauged strings. Probably from my first instrument being a violin :)

Hey Phatty,

Do you know what shipped with my 30th? And how could it possible sound any better?

Hmmmm, maybe I'll stop by GC on my way home today.

A: The 4-string basses are all equipped with Ernie Ball Super Slinky Bass strings, item number 2834, when they leave the factory. The gauges are 45-65-80-100.

as far as making a 30th sound better. I gotta warn ya man... some people hate the sound of stainless steel strings. i like em cuz theyre nice and bright and that's my thing... but some people hate em for the very reason

its a $16 gamble ;)

and ps: i dunno if your fav store will have stainless steel EB bass strings in stock. mine doesnt but they're always glad to order me a bunch whenever i need em
