Been there... done that...
Probably because you simply haven't "heard" what you are looking for, yet
Best advise I would give you is, stick with what you got, until all of a sudden,
you play with a rig, and you say: damn! THAT"S what I want!
You'll know, trust me!

At band practice, I've been playing through a combo bass amp that the guitarist had brought to the practice room before I joined the band. And I must say it has really impressed me for the volume of sound it puts out as well as the sound quality. It's a F*nder 1x15 combo. Sorry, don't know the model, but if you see that brand name at your store you might want to check them out.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but I recently played the new Line 6 Lowdown 300 combo and it's pretty nice. 300 watts into a 15 and a horn with 5 different amp models makes it very versatile. It was plenty loud to gig with, and sounded good when turned down. Really it's a great amp from practice to the gig. I think they are around $600 street.

I don't know what your budget is but if it's fairly elastic then you have to consider the Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout. Great sound. Loads of volume and the versatility of easily removing the amp to use with other cabs.
