hey everybody,
im wanting to know if anyone knows how to recover an amp in carpet or astroturf. i bought my cab used and who ever had it last seemed to have a cat that enjoyed destroying the carpet on the side. i looked for sites on the net that tell you how, but i couldt find any. i want to put some sweet astroturf on it. ohh yeah, i should be ordering my new swr workingman 2004 tomorow. yeah but my crate looks really bad.

have you played one of those swr's? i had a workingman's 4004 head and honestly i didnt like it at all. im just makign sure youve used one before pulling the trigger .... our style/ears are different so what i dont like you may love.

Maybe someone who worked on the audiophile cabs can respond and give you some pointers..

Probably some sort of spray on industrial adhesive type stuff

For cheap and fast veneering, I've used this in the past. Not sure it will work on carpeting due to the porousness of the carpet. Should be able to find it at any Home Depot, Ace, Lowe's, etc.

Most carpeted cabs (subwoofers, not p.a.) I've made I simply used staples. Make a 4 sided box, wrap carpet on outside of structure, fold to inside of box, pull tight and staple on inside. Finishing the box will cover up the staples. Hard to describe so if you aren't getting it, PM me with some questions and we'll hash something out.

Tolex would probably be easier with a spray on adhesive since it is less porous.

Not sure this really answered your question but I hope in the least that it gives you some ideas to get-'er-done.

Rather than carpet (collects odors, pet hair and grass) or tolex (rips), have you considered a urethane-based textured paint coating? You often see this black coating on speaker boxes in touring sound companies, as it's very hard wearing and easy to touch up.
