I would suggest Peavey since you said you are going to college. There will be tons of fund eating things happening while you are there. It will sound good nuff and get loud enuff for most everything you need. Get what Joe Nerve plays. TNT 130 I believe.

IMHO.

Ive just had a few bad experiences with Peavey that lead me to lack faith in the company. Just as ive had several bad experiences with the big F*nder.

I appreciate everyones suggestions. I tihnk i have enough ideas to work off of for a while. Ill do my research without buggin you guys now ;) heh.

Thanks. Now back to waiting for my HH sr5;)

It is all good little brother. My peavey leads some folks to hearing issues but that is another subject.

Heh. Right now i think the GK setup I had in mind is still winning, BUT Im looking into the Eden WT550 and Berg HT112 idea as well. Both have a lot to offer.

Ask away. I'm busy with work and three little munchkins, so I mostly lurk for 10 minutes or so ea. night - otherwise my wife slaps my head.

My Stingray5, which I recently sold, sounded huge through my 550 / 210XST rig. My fretless Streling has a real nice round sound to it - I run the sterling with mid & bass knobs boosted around +2/5 and the treble 0/0. I run the 550 head mostly flat in the EQ section, sometimes I boost the bass & cut the treble 1 click. I run the enhance (easy EQ knob - creates a smiley face in the EQ scooping mids) mostly at around 9 o'clock. I've never had to boost my volume know past halfway - this amp is plenty loud at 550w @ 4 ohms. The pre-amp gain for both basses (SR5 & Sterling) are set around 11 o'clock. But not only does this amp / cab get loud, it's clear and punchy. No muddy lows or whimpy highs. This is what annoyed me the most about my previous rig (Ampeg SVT3-Pro & 410-HE). It's pretty much the tone I've had in my head for years. Punchy, even, clear, and chest driving. You can fell it in your chest.

Anyways....PM me for more info because I'm not sure I can gush too much about a non EB product here (fair enough). If I did, please edit my post moderators.

Peace,
Brim

Appreciate it. His comments on the WT550 were supportive of what I had hoped. This amps looking good :) Hopefulyl I get to try one somewhere/sometime.

So right now the eden wt550 and berg ht112 are winning. Itd be pushing 300 watts, which is fine by me. i could run it through my 4 ohm avatar b212 to get 500 watts if needed, so id keep that cab around.
