To me it comes down to 2 things
(simply my pref. posts have been made according to popularity)
How much are you willing to carry?
I think the best sounding amps with a stingray 5 are
An Ampeg SVT CL or a Mesa Boogie 400+
But they are both heavy upwards of 60+ pounds especially if you are touring and need heavy duty road cases for them.

There are other similar options if you dont want to carry quite as much
A good preamp and poweramp combo
I know many SVT CL fans find the SVT CL Preamp an acceptable sub.

or if you are looking to go lighter
Ampeg SVT PRO's (excluding the 2)

There are many Hi-Fi light options as well
Eden
Epifiani ETC.
I simply perfer the warmth and growl of the Stingray combined with tubes.

Cab choice also comes down to how much will you carry.
I have always been a fan of 10's and think they can provide more than enough low end, and tight response.
I find an 8x10 Cab pushes quite a bit of air and provides more than enough power for almost any gig.
There are also 4x10, some 3x10's and 2x10
if your looking for a smaller package
Hope this helps.

I use a Markbass LMII through an Epifani UL310 and gig at least once a week in a wide variety of situations and it does the job every time. I used to have 2 Aggie 112s and they were fantastic too singly and/or together but I always wanted a 'single cab' no fuss rig and this hits the spot.

The other nice thing is that I can carry my entire rig plus two basses (providing no stairs involved!) in one lift from the car to the stage.

I don't see any mention of EA stuff, which I'm really digging. I can run my iAmp 800 and dual Wizzy cabs and get close to the same volume my SWR Goliath Sr. 6x10 and pre/power rig used to give me....and I shed about 75 lbs of weight!!

Thanks for all the feedback. It might have made the decision more difficult. "kidding". I think I might get the Eden 1x15, but I might want to get 2x8's or 2x10's to go with it. How do I know what wattage head to get. I know I want at least a 3- 350 watt. But If I get too much will I blow the speakers? Also, does it make a difference between 4 and 8 ohm. Thanks again

If the head won't go to 2 ohms you don't want 4 ohm cabs unless you go 4x10.

Two 8 ohms cabs amounts to a 4 ohm load at the head. Two 4 ohm cabs paired amount to a 2 ohm load.

What you want for cabs does depend upon the head you have or preamp and amp.

IMHO until you get to about 480 watts or more you stand a greater chance of blowing the drivers out of your cabs.

There is lots more knowledge around here than what I have about such things.

I run an 8 ohm Ampeg Classic 2x10 and and Ampeg Classic 1x15. Handle 150 watts each. They do better without replacing drivers If I have way more than 300 watts. They seem happy and I am happy with the 480 watts I am giving them.

Get a big head and don't abuse the numbers you will do alright.

And if you get better advice don't listen to me :)

It is here to be had.
