it might just be one of those basses that just plays so good and you cant realy describe it. i always thought that these famous musicians can afford whateve they want, so why not have a bunch of different instruments?

if i had a bass that just played so sweet then i would keep playing it if it was in that condition too!

if it played so sweet would you trash it like Phoenix did?

I don't understand the negative comments?

He plays a thrashed ray, so what?

Personally, if that happened to a bass I liked and it still played great, I'd keep using it.

it doesn't just happen, he trashed a bass.
sorry, destroying musical instrumens is not cool.

I don't know if we can make too many assumptions, unless this guy chims in, I'm sure lots of things can happen to a tour band's instruments. We don't know a forklift didn't back into it, bass tech tripping over something, drunken member of an opening act backstage.... just saying.

Those pictures of the guy swinging the SR to the floor are hard to look at. I know, it's his bass (I hope!), but there are so many youngsters out there that would love to have such a nice instrument.

you have proof?

true... I had a drunk knock over my rig... fell ontop of my old Ray and snapped the neck and split the body (unplayable). Accidents happen. And if it wasn't an accident, it is still his bass and he can do what he wants with it. No big deal here... if you don't like it stop watching him. If you don't like the statement he is making (if he is making one), ignore it. There are plenty of other bassist to watch out there so if it isn't your thing let it be and move along. No biggie.

As an LP and EBMM fan, I'd love to hear whether there's an official story to that, how this 'Ray was modified to still work and whether the work was done at the MM factory...

I tried my best to leave this tread alone but... I would much rather a high profile artist play a Stingray in that condition than play a Fender or Warwick. Not pretty to look at for most of us but tons of publicity value for our favorite company. JOSH
