Hehe, I guess that this sunburst beauty would be a no-brainer for quite a few fellow knuckleheads here. :D Despite the fact that EBMMs play and sound pretty awesome, I strongly doubt that Andy would ever again swap his Ibanez AT-100 for a longer period of time.

I just listened to a very intimate interview with Andy that gives a couple of interesting insights, e.g., that Andy considered endorsing Fender because people usually assign particular music styles with the headstock they see next to a guitarist ... which in turn may have closed some doors for him. But I guess he's pretty happy with the way his career has developed so far.

If you'd like to give the interview a listen, here you go ...

That was a great interview! Thanks for posting that!

Would love to hear more opinions on the Timmons pups.

I own one of the very first Ibanez AT-100s and these pickups have totally converted my tonal preferences. I was a Humbucker-only guy for a VERY long time, loving the singing and smooth sound of neck humbuckers. However, the DiMarzio Cruisers even deliver more as they have a unique and versatile tonal characteristic that can go from as twangy as singlecoil to as fat as a humbucker. The AT-signature humbucker complements the HSS-configuration perfectly and makes it my favorite pickup set, period.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm thinking of putting them in a mahagony bodied guitar like one of his other models.

No worries, because I also have an AT-200 in my collection. I upgraded it later with DiMarzios although the Ibanez stock-pickups did a really good job. However, the Cruisers are the real deal and won't disappoint you soundwise - neither in an alder or a mahogany body. Give it a try!
