I get it now.
I really understand the Zealotry.
I see why grown men giggle like little kids over a musical instrument.
You see, today I went to my local GC and played two Bongos for about two hours ...
* A black 4-string HH. Nice -- very nice. Tonality was totally versatile. It was a floor model that had obviously been handled quite a bit. Still felt great. Left me with a feeling of "Hey -- this is nice! I like this!"
* A 5 string HH in Rolls Burgundy. Oh ... My ... Goodness. It was like the heavens parted or something. The neck was perfect. I've played a lot of fivers and they necks tend to feel wide and ungainly. Not so, this puppy! It felt like ... home! And the tone ... the b-string was to die for! Somebody said in another thread that the HH tone is like "The voice of God" ... that's EXACTLY RIGHT!
