By the way, I saw a desert gold EBMM guitar last weekend in a local guitar shop and it looks a lot better in person. The pictures do not do it justice. They also had a nice Silhouette Special in white with a white pearloid pickguard and a maple board. If I was a guitar player that would be my exact choice right there.

Nice Oli. Sometimes I wish I had held onto mine, but I'm just not one to own it if I'm not going to play it (when I could use those funds for something I'll play), and the problem was that I just didn't like the slap sound of it with the graphite neck. Finger style sounded good on it, though. Anyway, congrats man! If they're both going to be players, you can atleast give them some diversity by putting different strings on 'em, right?

Edit: You could even make one of them a "tenor", stringing it A-D-G-C, just for fun.

And to think...you have a 30th Anniversary 'Ray on the way as well. What the hell do you do for a living? I guess the US Dollar being as crappy as it is now can't hurt your buying habits!

No need to justify your purchase here!

If anyone asks, tell them you liked the first one so much you figured you would be proactive and buy a second one now for a replacement when the original one eventually wears out.;)

Kinda a "bass continuity" or "bass disaster recovery plan". Everyone should consider the redundancy you have adapted!.;)

When I won it, after bidding on mere momentary impulse, my head was spinning and I thought "what have you done?! you already have one of these!"... but then, I just love Inca Silver, I love the sound with the graphite neck and I love special instruments... and as was mentioned, I'm pretty sure it won't depreciate over the years...

On money and things

What the hell do you do for a living?

Well, I haven't bought any bass equipment during the last eight years, and I've recently sold a lot of used gear... that helps to put aside some "bass money"... and, in the end, it's all a matter of preferences: A new EBMM bass, or new set of tyres for the track car, or a water fill of the swimming pool, or one week skiing. I picked the bass(es).

I guess the US Dollar being as crappy as it is now can't hurt your buying habits!

...indeed it is, and I am taking advantage of that ...also buying used from US instead of new from Europe is a huge difference. I couldn't afford to order several new instruments every year, or to collect vintage guitars, what seems to be pretty ordinary for some forumites here and on talkbass.

However, it's fine with me, and I think it's great if people spend their income on musical instruments!

I do have some, but they're all crappy.

Need to do a proper photo session. Didn't take the black sparkle home yesterday, otherwise I'd have taken some pics of that as well.

Yeah... I know you have one... I finalized my decision to get mine (my first StingRay ever) on the pics I've seen on this forum. And your pics were the ones that send me over the edge :D. I still envy you for that gorgeous neck. But I'm happy with my matching headstock :p

BTW, if you'd like to get some of my pics in high resolution as desktop backgrounds, shoot me a PM.
