Right so, got a tip on a Stingray Bass. I'm a guitar player myself but it wouldn't hurt to get my hands on a bass. The price is around 500$ (i know, i know), so the following thing to ask is...is this fake or what? It's really weird that the bridge has the 'Music Man' on it, something I haven't seen on them fakes.

The back plate tho...looks weird. Also, I think the tuning pegs have also the 'Music Man' written on them? The pictures aren't really that great and no close ups.
I have asked for the serial number, but the seller ain't home right. He said he got it from a friend and just wants to sell it. I know it's fishy, but hey, that's how I got a real limited edition ibanez guitar from axe palace for just 600$ xD.

What do you guys think?

As fake as they get. One of those "Aliexpress" Chinese knockoffs. Everything is wrong with it, the tuners, the bridge (I can't believe they started stamping Music Man on it though), battery compartment, the shape, etc. Stay away, especially for $500.

I see. Was about to post here if I should ask for some more pictures and what should they be, but I guess there's no more reason for that :/ I thought they wouldn't bother to stamp the logo on the bridge, the made in California print on the back of the headstock and so on...

Could you please give me some hints of what gave it off? So i'd know in the future. How did you know the bridge/tuners/shape are wrong?
I mean, the shape looks alright for me, an untrained eye, especially compared to other pictures on google

Once you're around them a lot, you notice differences fast. Just pull the pics of the original Stingray next to this one and compare.

Bridge shape is wrong, the usual elongated chinese knockoff with sharper corners and cheap saddles. The Music Man logo is too large as well, so they screwed that up too.

Tuners are too long and look cheap, gear ratio looks awful.

Headstock shape is off, the neck heel is off, the battery compartment is in the wrong place and not the original Ernie Ball battery box.

Made in Cali print at the back of the headstock is in the wrong place too.

No compensated nut either of course.

There's more but that's just the gist of it.
