I know, the guitar that you think is amazingly perfecly might be dreadfully useless to me. But still, it's nice to talk about Balls and I appreciate the knowledge and experience in this forum, so you still might be able to help me decide.

I am selling my True Gold Silo because I've never really bonded with it. I had my mind set on getting a Morse Standard, but now some good deals for a Y2D and a Reflex have popped up (see Balls for Sale thread), which have me doubting which guitar to choose.

I already have an Axis Super Sport and a Luke and play in a Rock/Pop/Soul cover band. I think any of the guitars above would provide the sonic versatility I need (with the Y2D having the least). Which one of these would you go for in my situation, and why?

I have to admit that your enthousiasm for the Reflex and your videos are the main reasons I am liking it more and more. When it came out I didn't really like it.

I know it can do "the rock thing", but I 've not found any good clips/soundbites of it with clean arpeggios and chords. *hint hint* ;)

I would naturally gravitate to single coils for pop/rock thing (with a good humbucker for solos) but of course the classic soul sounds are frequently more humbucker orientated. The Silo Special does a great job but that doesn't suit you and you have all the bases covered with a Luke and an ASS. Maybe you don't need another guitar. :D

Personally, I'd naturally go to something with a single coil so I'd suggest Y2D. But did you consider an AL? Think of the choice SSS, 3xMM90, or HH (with all-rosewood neck)! Despite my apparent need for single coils, I think a HH AL might just be the guitar that everyone should have.

BTW, how come you didn't bond with the Silo Special? Was it the neck, pickups or what colour?

Of course I don't NEED another guitar ;) but since when is that relevant at all when buying new gear ;).

I have no clue why I haven't bonded with the Silo. It just doesn't get played all that much. I like the neck, I get great sounds, and how can you not like True gold?...so basically I like the guitar, but I'm not 'in love' with it I guess.

An AL HH would be great, but probably a bit out of my price range..they seem to go for a bit more than the guitars I mentioned.

If you want an AL HH, you should get it! They are really great. I got mine for a price a few hundred € higher than the Reflex that's for sale. But you have to bump in to one, takes a bit of searching.

A Reflex is also great, but my personal preference is the AL.

I don't really need Piezo (Have a nice "acoustic sim" patch on my AxeFX for the few songs I need that kind of sound for), so I really can't justify the additional costs for it. :D

I'm not sure if I got you right that you think the Y2D is the least versatile? I think that's completely not true, and is one of the most versatile and overall amazing sounding guitars ever. The clean tones are awesome on that guitar especially with both humbuckers in parallel, and you can get that warm jazzy tone from the neck pickup. You can also have the twangy tele tone from the single coil on its own or the funky chicken pickin type of tone with the bridge and single engaged. Now when you turn on the dirt, it's all out rock n roll man!

By the way, I would also suggest the standard Morse as well. But yea, you really cant go wrong with the AL HH or the reflex. I personally love the look of the 25th outfit compared to the plainer reflex offerings, but you can pick up some cool pieces on the used market.

As a matter of fact you could probably check out Guitar Center used page. I believe they should be able to sell overseas since the items are used? They have a pretty good selection including a really awesome Sapphire Black standard Morse, 25th and HH AL. :)

If you are looking for versatility and you are already interested in a Reflex, why not look into a Game Changer? Versatility to the max! And you can set it up with MIDI to work with your Axe-FX

I had a Y2D, now I have a 25.

The 25 being a Reflex, I would say I like it more than the Y2D. It has 10 different sounds, very lightweighted and with an outstanding neck, which is a bit "slower" than the Y2D (I thinks is a bit fatter), which has an awesome awesome neck.

Both guitars are very versatile and cool looking...I´d say go for the Reflex, but keep an eye on a good deal for the Y2D as well...both are monster guitars.

Apparently, sometimes things don't turn out the way you expected them to and you end up buying something different, but awesome nonetheless..:D
