I just got back home from visiting a local family run music store that has been open for close to 50 years. It is a nice shop with freindly employees, they are mainly a G and F dealer on guitars, but are also a Mesa Boogie dealer with the best stock in town, I went to test run one of the new Express 5:25 amps which they just got in stock. I took the new AL with me to use, I went out to the car to get the AL and as soon as I came back in the store everybody just stopped what the were doing and stared at the case. I went to the amp room sat the case on the floor and started openeing it up when I looked up three of the store employess were behind me and asking is that a musicman, they all had to pick it up and play the AL, nothing but compliments on what a fine guitar it was.
Moral of the Story:EBMM just rocks!
P.S. The Mesa 5:25 Express is a very nice amp, very versitle and the AL sounded great.:)

I think what you are describing is known as ENVY. F's and G's are easy to sell to beginners, hence there are tons of shops that offer a wide array of these type guitars. BUT, the gearheads that work there know a good guitar when they see one....

Nice story!

Fing, ive found the same thing every single time i take my AL out to try some amps, everyone is shocked at the awesomeness of the mighty AL!!!!

Which AL, Rob? :D There are three of them, right?

Man, I'd love to try an AL through a Stang Ray or some other Dr. Z creation.

I'm hoping that there are going to be some Blue Dawns left over in someone's inventory somewhere. Maybe, something off my extensive wishlist... I'm not going to be able to get an order in this year.

you know its funny that I have never played a strat that I liked that was built in the last 10 or 15 years, gibson has a different vibe all together but I still cant get the whole strat thing, they just feel cheap to me, even the higher end stuff, I dont get it at all -

as soon as i got my mits on an AL, my strats just felt very cheap and lifeless. no part of them was superior to the AL. what a super axe the AL is. I love crapping on about them!!! My wife is SOOOO sick of me going on about them! She say "thats nice dear, I'm glad you like them, now when are you going to buy me something?".

My F3nd3r is actually a good one from 18 years ago. I agree that they haven't put out any Str@ts in the last 15 years that are particularly compelling. Even the used SRV and new John Mayer I tried out didn't feel particularly confidence inspiring. The JM Str@t had the sound I wanted, but it felt cheap and didn't feel nearly as well made as an EBMM. For that kind of money, I'm buying an AL with MM90s

I had a similar experience once, except the employees (the gearheads) started telling me that I should've just bought the OLP, since its "exactly the same, only cheaper".... and this WAS A EB/MM DEALERSHIP. In fact, I bought my Axis from another branch of the same store. I didn't sweat it much though, I know from experience that most of them are 'salesmen' and not musicians.

Mine is with the MM90`s and it sounded great through the express between the store owner and my self we ran through all the express settings using all pick up config`s and all sounded great, taking my 20th Silo up next to give it another test run.
