Is there a general consensus regarding tilting your pickups side to side or front to back to compensate for any perceived differences in string output?

EB FaQ is my consensus on pickup setting. Mine were set right from the factory. Until I put on the acme flats then I had to drop the B side just a wee bit.

I know that isn't no help. :)

Depends on how close I'm standing to the Tropic of Capricorn at any given moment.

Yeah,

It's really the same ole' question: So, whether you tilt, raise or lower your pickup, it's the concern for the "margin" of difference between the bottom of the string and the top of the pickup.

Does this margin make a difference - yes!

Okay, in light of my smarty-pants post above, I do raise the bridge pickup on my Bongo 4HH slightly to get a "honky" sort of tone out of it.

That's "honky" not to be confused with "white."
