It's an awesome pickup! In parallel I have no clue, but I'm sure it will sound a bit brighter with less output. U can always install a push pull pot to go from series o parallel : )

DiMarzio say it is exceptional for coil split and parallel wirings. With it being a dark pickup, it should be useful to have those brighter sounds. I would try a push-pull or, even better, an on-on-on DPDT switch for all 3 options.

In parallel you're getting a humbucking combination of coils with about 1/4 the inductance. So the frequency window is wider- it's much less middy.

It's comparable to the sound of a single coil, but different. Clean, it's clear & lower output (well the output is spread out over more frequencies) so you get some of the "chime" of a single. You're not going to mistake it for a single coil, but with a bit of gain it's more similar than a humbucker in series.

Basically, it's a good way to get a humbucking single coil-esque sound. To that extent, you can always split the coils, but then you have to deal with the noise (unless you have a silent circuit or something lying around).

Just another fun thing you can wire up.

I'm all about parallel over split. My Air Norton is wired in parallel. It has a great single coil spank but under gain it sounds more like the full 'bucker. What I'm trying to accompish here is having a bridge pickup that sounds sort of like a meaty Tele bridge pickup or a P-90. The DiMarzio FRED does...

Air Zone in parallel? I don't know....It's the only PUP in my SUB :D

I heard it in parallel mode in a LAG guitar though.....sounds gooooood, has some single coil vibe to it, but different

Well heck, I need to put some new strings on it anyway. I'll just try it...

Yapp, that's it...if you have the chance to try it, do it...the best option anyway.

Beej's description is quite good, but as we all know...we all hear something different, so you're really the only person to find out if you like the result.

Well, I was playing with my band last night and using the Morse exclusively. We play Country and while the AZ is a little on the fat side, it did a decent job of have a nice twang. I have learned through the years, that most of someones tone can be made or broken through their right hand technique. I'm afraid that if I wire the AZ in parallel, it might be too thin. I love the warm, smoothness I get when doing a solo with it. It'll handle double stops and such nicely and doesn't muddy-up.
