OC, before u go all out and stick a HS2 in the mid of ur silo when u get it, pay some consideration to the Virtual2 middle or neck for that spot. They're also hum cancelling and sound FAB, they have chocs of output too - especially the neck pos model which will work great in the mid spot.

I hot rodded a MIJ strat with the Virtual2 set and replaced the second tone control with an EMG SPC circuit (aside from the graphtech saddles and locking tuners) and it sounds SMOOOOTH! Heartily recommended. :D

HS-2's are great middle pickups between humbuckers....that is, if you can find 'em!

According to the DiMarzio site, apparently they're being slowly phased out by in favor of the Virtual Vintage line (but can still be made as a custom order if you absolutely must have one).

Do keep in mind, tho, that the VV2s are designed for use with 250k pots - the first generation ones were made to work with 500k. If memory serves correctly, the stock Silos use 250k, unless you or someone else have modded the pots aftermarket of course...

That's correct the Virtual2's are designed to work with 250k pots. I know the Sil Spec has 250k pots but not sure about the 24fret Silo.

Everything is so much clearer now. I don't know why I didn't see that before. Thank You for the laugh.

Good call dude. I've always liked the HS2's and 3's for the middle. I'm planning a TZ/ HS/ AN set for my upcoming Silo

That sounds pretty sweet OC, you can't beat the TZ/AN combo in the bridge and neck.

I had an HS2 in an old RG750dx yonks ago and was very happy with it...I'm just blown away by the V2's tho. :D

I'll look forward to hearing how it pans out - and the pics too of course.

He laughs....as Norm's potential endorsement deal flies out the window....and over some freshly pruned hedges....

Good thing! I would hate for my deal to get scratched, or worse yet, hung up on an unpruned hedge. That would just be unsightly. I would much prefer that deal fly right out the window and land firmly off the property. That way I could get on with my life. All I would have to do then is sell my eight EBMM guitars. (That number will go to 10 as soon as I can get the 20th anniversary silos.) Or I could burn them for heat for all I care and go with a manufacture that cares about me.

I love the middle single coil on the silos. They have just the right amount of snap to make them expressive. Otherwise I use it to tone down the volume for quieter passages. I really like the position of the single coil on the number 2 setting. Middle and bridge single coils. It's great for bringing the rhythmic funk.
