Hi I am new to here and to stingrays, well owning not playing. I bought a four string 2 eq stingray off ebay, very battered and bruised but I've managed to get to look presentable and sprayed it up but will get it done properly in the summer. Anyway my question is has anyone seen a bridge like this one before? I've searched all the pics I can find and none seem to be anything like this. Any help would be much appreciated.

Mario....you haven't described the bridge....any pics.

In any event, I've done a thingy on bridges in my Web Page.

Link is under my "sign off' below.

(my hunch is that your talking about the circa 93 to 96 trans bridge...???....it tricks eveyone...well nearly everyone) :D

Hi I've looked at your page and still nothing the same. The 1985 one is similar but mine has grooved saddles alll across not just wher ethe string goes over it? Still cannot attach a pic.!

What's the serial# on the bridge? I'm trying to ascertain its vintage. Some of the earlier bridges were designed in such a way that the strings formed a sharp angle from the bridge tail to the saddles. Looks like some one used the saddles on your Bass in an attemp to straighten the pull of the strings.

Hi thanks for the replies. Never thought it may be a mod, could be Fender saddles. The bridge has a number on it. Is this the one you want? I don't particularly want to take the neck off if that is where the serial number is. I live in Liverpool, UK, does anyone know anybody who is good at doing resprays? Thanks again.

mario....Looks like that's the case. It appears to be an 1986 or 87.

Jon ('jongitarz')....do you have the exact date of birth?

Hi thanks for the info. Thought it was a fairly old one just by its general condition. I'm not really bothered because it sounds and plays fantastic, although the neck is a little chunkier than I'm used to from my Jazz basses, but who cares I've at last got a Stingray.

John Diggins is the guy behind Jaydee Guitars and although he is down in Birmingham, he is "the man" if you want it restored and a professional respray.

Many thanks for that. I have had dealings with him before. ther is a guy I know in Wigan, a bit nearer than Brum, called Ritchie Thompson who has set up a few guitars for me in the past so I may get a quote from him first. Thanks again.

Mario,

The name rings a bell from the bass playing past!

Have you always lived in Liverpool? - or did you used to be in a band in Wembley with the Dunne brothers?

Hi just a thought although I love the sound of the SR would it make any difference if I could get hold of the real saddles? If you think it would where could I get them from? Many thanks.
