What is the friggin deal with these things not staying in tune though?
I was so under the impression that when John talks about how great this guitar was without the locking nut - I was impressed - I thought FINALLY someone can make a guitar without a locking nut and not have it go out of tune - as of right now this JP Limited Edition Blue Dawn - that retails for like $3000 or more - is NOT I repeat NOT staying in tune!
That to me is a crock, I have tried everything I know - plus read a bunch of input from others on this forum even, stretch the strings, tighten the tuning pegs, lube the nut, graphite the nut, even use EB strings, ah come on now, you have to use a special type of string too?
I mean dont get me wrong the neck plays fantastic, I do also admit the neck have a lot of sharp edges at each fret, surprised me too. At this point I just want to go back to Ibanez and forget the whole thing. But now I am in a deep enough hole of debt on this I cant really do that.
I know you make good instruments, but for the life of me I cannot figure this thing out - even in a humidty controlled room and still issues and I have owned 100's of guitars always looking for the 1 guitar that I would say - THIS IS IT!! and never have to worry again, and still I have not found it - Ibanez was the closest so far, but I love John, he even played Ibanez too, I thought well if he has this model it must be fantasic, and it will work like a dream - so far mine has been a nightmare - how is it you can bend the G string and it goes flat, then use the trem it comes back to pitch then the low E goes sharp - like I said, stretched the strings like mad, tightened the tuning pegs, lubed the nut, checked the springs in the back even tried adjusting them to have more tension on the low E thus not allowing as much slack and a tighter return.
Ok does anyone personally know John? - does anyone have step by step instructions on how he does it? - I mean the man goes insane on these trems and it always stays in tune.
Someone please tell me I have not wasted even more $$$ and give me some friggin hope here - because at this point - I am about to give up!!
OK - I just talked to AJ - I am sending it to the company to look at -he said let them try and I would not be disappointed - I trust him, he sounds like a nice person who wnats to try to help - so far I have never seen customer service like this - I will put my trust in his hands. - thanks AJ..
Your best bet is to contact the dealer who sold you the guitar and then contact EB Customer Service directly. Toll-free (866) 823-2255
I beat the snot out of my JP trem and the tuning stability is great. Norrin Radd had a fantastic video on youtube showing just how stable the tremolo is. Not sure where to find that vid now...
EDIT
And AJ swoops in for the dunk before I can do a layup.......
I beat the **** out of the trem, but it didn't stay in tune. I thought it was a trem issue, until it dawned on me: "It's the nut". It just needed a bit of pencil lead. Voila!!!!
Now I have the most stable floating trem in my collection ON the JP6.
I know your frustrated my friend with your guitar if you do have tuning issues im sure the guys at EB will sort it out for you.but since your only new to this forum it wasnt a very good way to introduce yourself by being so critical of MM guitars.
But it is a way to make a GRAND entrance isnt it? -
I apologize if anyone was too offened.
I did talk to AJ at MM - even though mine is not under warranty I am going to send it to them - AJ said they will make it - right!
I am trusting him - if this goes well - you will again see my entrance in a GRAND way singing praises!! - if it does not - I will disappear quietly to never be seen or heard from again.
This I promise, it is may main concern to scrape together this much money and then disappointment - it hurts so I voice my concern hoping someone might help me - and my cries where heard by AJ and he offered to help - now that is customer service and it shows MM cares about their name and reputation.
