ça fait du bien de pouvoir parler un peu le français sur ce forum, j'aimerais avoir quelques renseignements sur les pontets graphtech que tu a monté sur ta Luke, la référence exacte et l'impact sur le son comparé aux pontets d'origine (j'ai lu sur un de tes posts que le son était exactement le meme, mais je pense que si le metal est le meme que celui des pontets vintage Musiman, le son devrait etre légerement amélioré au niveau de la résonnance ceci étant du a la masse plus importante du pontet).
Peut tu me donner ces renseignements stp ?

alors, mieux que mille explications, voici une petite adresse avec des samples qui comparent les pontets d'origine et les graphtecs

ceci dit, evidemment, les ferraglide sont montés avec des cordes pile poil neuves, ce qui rajoute du claquant...

j'ai suspecté les premiers jours un infime manque de basses, mais en faits , après avoir beaucoup réecouté, pas du tout...

tu peux pas savoir à quel point ca m'a sauvé, je cassais cordes sur cordes (une vingtaine par semaine), etant pro et indepandant, ca me faisait perdre autaut de temps que d'argent, sans parler du capital confiance qui etait salement entamé...

ces pontets sont tout simplements géniaux...depuis preque trois mois que je les ai monté je n'ai cassé que 3 cordes...et pourtant je joue "intensivment" au moins une heure par jour, quand c'est pas des journées entieres d'enregistremements...

la reference : il s'agit des PG-8000-800

vraiment, je te conseille de sauter dessus !

En fait moi je n'ai pas de problèmes au niveau de cordes qui cassent, je joue avec du 10/46 sur mes guitares et je casse rarement des cordes, et pourtant je fais moi aussi toujours un minimum d'au moins 2 h/jours en plus je joue aussi en formation avec mon groupe de Rock (donc répèt, soirées, concerts...), et je fais pas mal de séances studio pour des chanteurs ou goupes !
Le seul problème est que je préfère de loin les pontets EBMM que j'ai sur mon Axis SS, et cela au niveau du son, mais surtout pour le confort de ma main droite qui repose dessus !
Je vais donc essayer de commander les pontets Musicman "solid steel saddles" pour ma Luke, et si je n'arrive pas à me les procurer, je prendrais les Graphtechs !

ah ben je te comprends, c'est desagreable ces vis qui rentrent dans la main...ceci dit, chez htd ils ne m'ont jamais proposé de modeles de pontets differents, juste l'identique... :(

enfin bon, tu nous raconteras tout ca ;)

what benifit will this bring about? higher output?

sorry but im very inexperienced with such stuff... i thought EMG pickups are not subject to normal pickup height issues?
 
low impedance emg's are able to use a much less powerful magnet....allowing them to get CLOSER to the strings without the magnatism interfereing w/ the string's natural occuring vibration.....and getting more output as you get closer to the string....BUT.....you will lose power quickly as you lower the pickup more & more. emg designed the pickup to typically be close to the strings.........

anyone remember lp records ?????? a simalar relationship use to exist between a ceramic phono cartridge & a magnetic phono cartridge.....w the magnetic one reqireing a preamp stage at the amp......while the ceramic one didn't...
those old radio shack phono preamps use to make as a great power booster between yer guitar and amp .....

Okay, okay.. I'll admit it. I remember LP records. I still own a few in fact, but I have no turntable on which to play them!

Mostly they are autographed.. I have 2 Queensryche albums signed by all 4 (original) members of the band. I have Vinnie Moore's autograph on a "Mind's Eye" album, I can't remember what else..

Am I not right in thinking there were 5 members in Queensryche?
 
The only decent songwriter in the band quit years ago to work a 8-5 job. His name was Chris Degarmo.

Wow.. my mind is really slipping away! Of course there were 5..

Tate, Rockenfield, Wilton, DeGarmo, and Jackson.

I even pictured the back cover of "Rage for Order" in my mind when I wrote that last post.. and it has one member in each corner and Geoff Tate in the middle. (Like the number 5 on a pair of dice).

He is a great songwriter - that's why I'm glad he contributed to their last album - Tribe. great album and those guys always play cool gear (not EBMM unfortunately)

I agree, although Geoff Tate did manage one decent song on his solo album. It's a track called "I can't Let you Go" or something. I haven't listened to it in a while.

Scott Rockenfield is no slouch though... has anyone heard his album with (guitarist) Paul Speer? I think it's called Hell's Canyon. I have it at home, too.. great instrumental album, and good listening for a road trip.

Rockenfield is one of the best drummers in the business (cue a long series of threads about drummers...) I've seen Queensryche live a few times and they are a great band- I reckon DeGarmo and Wilton influenced how my brother and I played together more than anyone - their MTV Unplugged was awesome and gave us a whole new direction in our playing

I have that "Unplugged" on CD as well!

It's an import from Italy, and the production ain't so great, but it's got live, acousitc versions of:

The Lady Wore Black, The Killing Words, I Will Remember, and others..

I would have bought it just for "The Killing Words", which is my favorite 'Ryche song (from "Rage for Order").

I don't mean to be a total rim-job but shouldn't you be finding out about the axe before you put money down? I'm sure it's great. Enjoy it.

He explained that he was in Singapore and that the distributor doesn't keep them in stock. It seems as if he has tried the guitar already, but given his location, not as extensively as he wished.

Besides, many people want a bit of reassurance after they have put a bit of money down hoping that they have made the right decision. It's like buyer's remorse before the fact.
