Well, I am a huge fan of Mesa amps. I just recently went from a Rectoverb 1x12 combo to a Stiletto Ace 1x12 combo. I won it on eBay last night and it is shipping today!

Any users/fans of the Mesa Stiletto amp here?

I've yet to hear a Mesa and a EB guitar sound bad together. The Stiletto is certainly no exception!

I want to try one of those suckers sometime. When I was at the G307 concert, Paul Gilbert's rhythm guitarist, Bruce Bouillet, was using 2 1x12 Stiletto combos and his tone was incredible. Liquid, searing, face-melting awesome.

...How long 'til you sell it? :D:p

kinda off topic but i gotta question. im thinking of getting rid of my mkiv because i like the tone but i need money. ive seen you go through many boogies in the past. i like the heaviness and the tightness and was wondering if i can find that in a mark ii or a dc5 and which one youd prefer or throw in some other suggestion

The Stilletto is killer, it is well-mannered, but can roar, too! Nice score, I'm sure you'll be happy.

I went on an amp quest that lasted most of last November/December, and as different as they are on the surface, it came down to the Mesa Lone Star and the Stilletto. I wound up with the LS (and I'm still completely happy almost a year later), but it was almost a coin toss at the end...it almost depended what mood I was in the day I was playing them in the store. I actually considered buying both. Maybe someday. Andy Timmons does that, and his tone is decent ;)

Congrats!

I believe Fred (fsmith) raved about his Stilletto Ace in several threads. If he doesn't chime in here, you may want to use the search for his posts.

I have owned several Meas, but never a Mark II or a DC5.

I've owned a Mark IV head with two thiele cabs, a Roadster head with a 3/4 back 1x12 cab, an F-30 combo, and a Rectoverb combo. The Mark IV was the tightest, the Roadster was the nicest, and the F-30 was the lightest. (haha, i'm a poet and didn't know it!) The Rectoverb was the best 'bang for the buck'. The Stiletto seems to be a nice mix between a Recto and a Mark series, but with better cleans. It should be here this Wednesday, so i'm counting down the days! I'm hoping I keep this one for a while!!

I can't put the Stiletto and Lonestar in the same category except for the cleans. The distortion on the Lonestar is not my cup or tea at ALL. I like some JUICE so the Stiletto suits me better.

Hey Mike, thanks for sending me back to the land of regret... ;)

I had an Ace head, had being the operative word. I'm really sorry I sold that one. I *thought* I needed 2 more channels and reverb so I sold it to get a Roadster.

The Roadster is a great amp don't get me wrong, but there was too much going on and I was constantly tweaking the channels.

I found it hard to find a bad tone on the Stiletto. And afterward I realized that I really do prefer the EL34's to 6L6's. I know you can put EL34's in the Roadster but life was much simpler with 2 channels...

I really did miss the reverb but who knows I may end up with another one, a combo this time, and I'll just get a reverb pedal and be happy.

You should enjoy that Ace, it's a monster.

Thanks, Fred! I agree that it is hard to get a bad tone out of a Stiletto. That was my first thought when I played the Deuce at the music store before finding the Ace combo...

I'm in the process of saving up for a Mesa myself. I think I'll be going for the Rectoverb head. I played the Lonestar which was awesome, but I also like morse distortion. I havent tried the Stiletto, but Mr. Timmons sounds amazing with that one and the lonestar. Would love one of each, haha. Cant wait to play my Silo Special and 20th Silo through a Mesa and Boogie all day and night!!!

Now that I have my BFR back (had to send it to EB for some repairs) I took it down to the music store and played that Deuce again (all in 50W spongy to emulate the combo's power). Holy Shnikeys!!!!! It was f-ing amazing! It was thick, fat, creamy, and screaming! I was able to dial in some fairly familiar Recto-esque tones (minus the boomy bass) with the treble down and some very cool high gain Marshall-esque tones with the treble up. I had one of the employees (whom I usually just say 'hi' to in passing) come up to me and say, "man, that sounds awesome!". I couldn't agree more!! It was like a much better version of the ol' Les Paul into a Marshall type tone. Killer!

I've got three more days until my Ace combo comes in and i've never been more pumped...

BFR + Stiletto = Orgasmic

I know what you're feeling like, having to wait for the amp!
I'm going to collect my dual rectifier head next Sunday and I really can't wait!!!
