any MM with wide string spacing?

I have a 4-string Stingray and a SUB5. I love them, but I could love a 5-string more if it had the same string spacing as the 4-string. Whenever I try a wide 5-stringer I feel "yeah, this is what I want"... but it never sounds like a Stingray.

I gather all SR5 have the narrower string spacing, but I was wondering if there is any other 5string MM modelthat has 19-20mm string spacing. If there is... I need to get one!

Well... If you bought a 6 string and leave out the E and D string. That should get you close ;-)

It's not a big deal, I play the SUB5 and switch and not a biggie. But when I try the wider spacing... it feels nicer *to me*

I guess when I get a wide 5-string it won't be a Stingray. Pity.

You're probably right in that if you find a particular bass you play above anything else, you adapt to it.
Unfortunately I am very much in love with my 4-string Stingray.
It's the bass I really feel at home with and I get any sound I want from it and it's almost like an extension of me... so at the moment I play 5-string when I have to, rather than by choice. But maybe I just haven't found "the" one.
(I have the feeling a wide spacing SR5 would be a likely candidate to the post, but clearly it belongs in fantasy land, with unicorns )

Can't say that I've never been shocked by BP and crew...even going as far as offering options they said they wouldn't, but with all of the variables (a few more than bolting on a lower-profile neck) involved in making a wide-spaced 5er I think it's probably not going to happen any time soon.

Yeah, I don't see there being enough need to design a new wide neck. The SLO Special is just an adaptation of an already available neck.
