Any Non EBMM Got Your Fancy?

Following up on a comment Jimi made in another thread. I thought it might be interesting to post any guitars that are catching your interest other than EBMM guitars.

For me I've been smitten by a Fender Nashville Telecaster. It's got Tex-Mex Tele pickups plus a Tex-Mex middle Strat pickup in the middle. That guitar is a real player and can do sweet Tele sounds as well as some awesome notch position tones not usually found on a Telecaster.

I'm currently circling my wagons trying to figure out how to bring one of those home.

When will the GAS subside?

Well, I went to see the Peavey V-Type I was looking at again today, and ended up playing it for an hour or so - nice guitar but not for me in the end... So I'm wondering what I'll look at next in terms of a floyd-equipped axe with a floating trem and I stop in at another music store just to see what they've got kicking around... I found a MINT '89 Hamer USA Chaparral - in unmarked, pristine, "I've been stored under the bed my whole life" condition, out the door with OHSC for $340! The thing is stunning with a handpainted custom snakeskin nitro finish, Brazillian Mahogany body, and a really sweet neck. It's got a Schaller made floyd that returns to true every time, and the guitar and case still have that "new guitar" smell! A very, very cool guitar! I'm pumped!

On a side note, the Wolfgang is a really cool guitar too, and you could do a lot worse than to look at one once your EBMM card has been filled to capacity.

I have always liked the Ibanez Jem series and the JS series from the modern guitars. A classic 50s or 60s Strat always looks cool.

To tell the truth I mostly lust after an EBMM Steve Morse model. That would look good beside my Silo.

I really want a 7 string again but I'm afriad the JP is a bit out of range, what buying 4 EBMM 6 strings recently, and a new amp, and a.....and a....and a... and another....My buddy can get me a Prestige Rg for like 4 bills tho. So I might have to jump on it for now.

Dunno why, but I've been really getting into semi-hollowbodys in the last several months...the MIK Epiphone Wildkat really surprised me a few weeks ago.

Lemme tellya...nothing beats going into a music store and cranking heavy but tasty rock licks thru a high-gain amp with a jazz box and watching the jaws start dropping. Totally freaks people out, especially when I hand the guitar to 'em to try it for themselves and it starts feeding back uncontrollably on 'em ...

Now I know why Ted Nugent had all the fun he did!

Oh yeah, I'm about to get me another cheap guitar, might be an IBZ S470 or SZ320mh. Or a Fender TC-90 or Tele Special HH (stock with Dimarzio ToneZone and Air Norton!!). Or an EBMM Sub 1........ but this one isn't available yet, here in the Netherlands.

I've been seriously tempted by a guitar by the name of 'blackmachine'. It's an Ibby RG shape with a fixed bridge, but is only 28mm thick! Due to the builder's choice of woods and the lack of any paint, these guitars sound far from thin, they are huge, fat sounding guitars!

I'm also currently speccing out an acoustic I should hopefully be getting made for me once I sell my current box (anyone interested in a handbuilt Fylde Magician?!). So far, I'm considering the following woods for a small bodied, rich sounding geetar:

Walnut back and sides
Bearclaw Spruce top with Brazillian Rosewood binding
Brazillian Rosewood fretboard bound in Snakewood
3 or 5 piece neck with woods to be decided

I want classy looking, but without a ton of abalone.

The builder is another UK builder who's quite new to the industry called Nathan Sheppard. I think a lot of you guys would like his neck thru, multi wood electrics, so you can click here for his site.

Oh ya... absolutely... I don't even know if Hamer had an import line in 1989, but this is a USA axe...
