Anybody "Mod" their lukes?

Hey guys,

Just curious, but has anyone messed around a bit with their lukes? Anyone add some new pickups, maybe some new switching options, or piezo saddles AFTER the fact? I love my luke because it has lots of sentimental value, and it feels great. It just doesn't have that special sound to me right now that makes me fall in love everytime i'm playing it...I don't want to be contemplating selling it! Anybody have any cool ideas?

Change the pups. Get rid of the EMGs... I'm sure that'll do the trick. (and open another can of worms...)

I put in the EMG 81 after Dizzy recommended it, it has just a bit more attack, gain, and treble. Not a major change, but a good one for metal/solo.

I'd be a little hesitant to change to passive as youd also need to change the volume pot and output jack, EMG's are higher output and wired differently.

I'm thinking of putting another battery in one of my Lukes and make it 18 volts. People told me that the EMG sound even better then. Don't know if there's enough space in the cavity to put another in though..

I went for passive pickups. Great guitar, lovely neck, lots of battle scars, but the EMGs didn't go well with my current setup.

Also, I added titanium saddles- I get more use out of my strings before they go dull and wooly now.

That's the way to go. Just get rid of that other guitar and keep the Luke!

Haha jack I know! I have to get around to that...I wish I had them both still...seller's remorse!

I added the EMG Strat Presence Control to mine. The bridge HB really screams now, and the single-coils can sound almost like HB's when so desired. Fun stuff! Otherwise it's factory stock.

Edit: Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I also added chrome knobs. Schweet!
