Hi gang, I know there are raving reviews of the 20th silo, and can't wait to try one. Has anyone compared the regular silo to the 20th. I know the body wood is slightly different due to the tone block, what about the pickups and neck profile? Sorry if this has already been covered. Thanks.

I actually have both, proud to say :)! Honestly they are completely different guitars. Like you said already, the Silohouette is just alder wood, whereas 20th Silo has Alder Maple & Mahagony. The neck profiles are basically the same. The pick ups I think are supposed to be similar, where in the regular Silo, you have Virtual PAF bridge and Neck and some kind of a single coil. However there is also 250K pots on the regular Silo comapred to 20th Silo's 500K pots and of course the 20th has no single coil and also a 3 way switch compared to the 5 way. I would say the 20th Silo is something in between Fender and Gibson tone wise. Not exactly but that's kind of the only way I can describe it in comparison. It is completely unique and resonant, and incredibly clear. Thats kind of the best comparison I can give. Basically 2 completely different beasts, and of course both are AMAZING, but the 20th Silo is my favourite at the moment :D. Cant wait to get the Silhouette Special with Piezo hehehehe.

BTW: I just put set of 10 gauge EB strings on the 20th, and it sounds even better!!! So much more Balls hehehe!

Thanks for the replys. I am looking for something to replace my PRS CE24. It has an alder body with maple top. I like the sound of the guitar but have never been able to bond with the neck, especially past the 12th fret. I played a regular silo and liked the neck. It sounds like the 20th has a thicker sound. Look forward to hearing any other reviews/comparisons. Any sound clips of the silo out there? Thanks again.

I'll post my feels in a couple weeks...( or days?)

Tristan, Cant wait to hear you play the 20th, mine will be here by the end of the week. Hearing you play one will give me some insight as to its sonic abilities, Pete posted a pic of mine I think the thread is now on the second page.
