Hi guys.
I really need a good amp and I can't decide between the mesa boogie lonestar (head+cad) and the roadster (head+cab)
I know they are very different, but what I would like to know is if it's possible to get this tone out of a roadster
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f27P6_DB1vw&feature=related"]YouTube - Marco Sfogli plays on a Larry Carlton style backing track[/ame]

This tone just blows my mind, but I also like playing more progressive and hard rock stuff, so what I would like to know also is if with the lonestar you can get a more hard rock tone.
I would really like to hear from someone who plays the JP with one of these 2 amps
Thanks to anybody who will answer;)

I think the choice is fairly easy: the Roadster is what you want. The Roadster has the clean channels from the Lonestar together with two higher gain channels that are close to what you get on a Dual Rec. The highest gain channel is actually an improvement on the Dual Rec for lead playing. If you like the Mesa sound then you also might want to check out the Mark IV which has a lead channel you might like better but won't get you into the Lonestar territory on the cleans or the Dual Rec rhythm tone. I owned a Mark IV for many years and now own a Roadster becuase I find it much more flexible. But they are both great amps.

You should also bear in mind that the Lonestar channels take pedals very well so with a good overdrive/boost pedal you can have another lead sound out of the Roadster.

I'm fairly certain I could get that tone with a boost and channel 1 or 2. Advice above is very good.

The Roadster is amazing. I think you'll be more than happy with it. You mentioned you'll be playing harder rock stuff, so that just instantly makes me think Roadster/Road King/Mark IV.
