There was a difference in richness of
tone in favor of the SR, but whether
it was worth several hunnert USD for
that difference depends not only on
your budget but also on the context
in which you play. Lotsa players get
all hawtnbawthered over their tone,
but play in bands and or rooms that
routinely smother any tonal coolth.
yes. it sounded pretty good to me. there were noticeable differences in fit and finish, the neck was not as smooth, neck/body joint not as clean, painted headstock line not as smooth around edges.
however nothing that really jeopardizes the tone, it was closer to the tone of my American made than I would have preferred honestly, haha.
I first started to compose a detailed response to this thread.
However let me just say this. I have a 89 SR5, along with a Roasted SR5 black sugar and I love both of them, they are great basses, however my SBMM basses are gigged more.
