To the Dimarzio Clip Lock users, has there been any finish wear from the strap either from strap contact with the body or from the plastic clip when the guitar is stored in a case?

Guess what?

Just five minutes ago, I had the guitar strapped on, I bent over to plug in the amp and the strap came off the lower button. Fortunately, I had one hand on the neck so the guitar couldn't fall. It could however rotate about my hand and as the body swung down, the headstock swung up and the tuners cracked me one smack in the eye! ;)

Dear Big Poppa,

Can we put superlocks on every guitar from the factory?

Many thanks,

DrKev (aged 39 next week)

I still think the stock strap buttons are better than anything else but you can never avoid the inevitable because the holes in end of the strap will soften and enlarge a little over time. It will come off sooner or later. Don't be stupid, like me.

nah nah-nah-nah nah (in a count of 1 2 -and-3 4) told ya. lol

Litigation as it is will mean that all guitars will come with a H & S warning that goggles should be worn to prevent eye injuries when playing guitar.

Ha ha, yeah, I figured that making a statement like "not using strap locks" could eventually come around and bite someone in the ass. :D If you don't take the strap off (even when casing it), the hole shouldn't get enlarged as much.

Yeah, and it's not like I don't have years of experience with this kinda thing either. I really should have known better. Oh well, no harm done this time.

BTW, anyone with Schallers, do periodically check that the nuts are tight on the strap. They can loosen and when they come off, your guitar will fall. And if you're on stage and lose the nut, you are in trouble.

Yes it can happen.
When you look at Steve #1 guitar, you see that there is some heavy wear exactly where the plastic parts touch the body of the guitar :

But Steve uses his guitar a lot :D
With my SUB there is absolutely no mark (the SUB finish can withstand nuclear assault) but on my Morse I think there are some marks (a bit hard to say because my Morse has quite a lot of marks thus it's hard to say from where they are coming from )

Wow, thanks for posting that. I'll admit that I'm still too timid to scar my Balls like that. Steve seems to have the only relic'ed Balls that I've seen.

Has anyone tried Loxx strap locks? I'm curious as to how their screw threads match up with EBMM stock screws.

No....not on any of my guitars !! I wipe my guitars down at string change time & I've never seen that. All my straps are solid Black.

I`m using Schallers on my Silo and Luke, I`m using the orignal button screws from EB to put them in.
I got two pairs of EB-Locks last year but I didn`t like them and sold them. They were holding my guitar, but there were kinda loose when you plugged the strap in, I was able to move it around, it wouldnt come off luckily, but I became worried. Nothing against EB but I prefer the Schaller ones.

The guitare are to valuable and the Locks are a very small and good investment to prevent the balls from dings :)

Beer ??? Where ??? At what time ??? :D

Really? My birthday is the 16th but I'll be busy all next week with St Patrick's day on the 17th. I'm playing at le Pelican on the 18th (6 Rue Verger 91510 Lardy, 17h00 start) so come along if you can!

Failing that, how about Thursday 22nd, The Cork and Cavan Irish pub, 70 quai de Jemmappes, Paris 10éme? Thanks François, you've helped me organise it! :D

I Check them before every gig and tight them if needed

I keep these around just in case a strap lock breaks or I forget a strap withy the locks on it. They work well and are cheap and can be used with any strap.

I will try to come with my little family. It's lucky because most of the time my kids have swimming tournaments on Sunday, but the 18th we have nothing !
What will you play ? Irish music I suppose !

Thursday is not the best day for me (my band rehearses on Thursday) but I will see if I can change our rehearsal date.

I like the EB strap locks, very sturdy, my only gripe is that after I swapped the buttons, my axis doesn't fit perfectly in the case. The button rests on a piece of the case, so the guitar doesn't lay flat. I use my gigbag instead.
