Anyone else run the EQ flat on their Stingray?

Yeah, I know, but for some reason it works for me. I don't have any boosed highs on my amp and I don't use the tweeters on my Avatar cabs, so maybe that's it.

Usually I have my amp set the same way, which is a lot of mids and high with low at a little over half(it is a 1 -15 after all, don't want an overbassed bland wall of tone).

As for the basses, it really depends on what I'm doing, what I'm playing for. I love my basses at flat but I also love to play with their sounds and get all sorts of different sounds for my mood at the time.

I set the amp's EQ flat and adjust the bass' onboard EQ to my liking. I figure I'd hear more of the bass' tone than the amp's that way.

I love having the onboard EQ, but to be honest, I run it flat in the center "detent" position 99% of the time. I just tweak my amp to taste.

But I love having the option of reaching down and tweaking the tones on my bass on stage, instead of going back to my rig. I just haven't gigged much with the Stingrays yet, so I haven't really used this feature much yet. But I do prefer all EQ controls in the center position for now.

Anyone else? If not, how do you set your controls most of the time?

Just curious...

Chris

My preamp is set the way I like it - then I adjust the onboard EQ if I need a little more of something on the spot. Otherwise it runs flat.

I never play flat, bass at 80%, treble depends, mostly about 30%, but at 90% if I slap
And I tweak my amp too, because I like it :)

Maybe it's because I am running my GK 400 IV through a pair of 12"s for monitoring only that I find it difficult to get a lot of bottom end without being ear-splitingly loud. Therefore normally on my SR4 the bass is pretty much full on and the bass on the amp eq is as well.

Last night it was a wedding in a marquee sat on the garden lawn with a terrible hollow stage, but with the amp and cab on the earth it sounds tip top!

am i the only one that runs all the knobs at full (10) ??? im not joking either. its just something ive always done. I just tweak the amp to where i like it.

obviously i lose flexibility this way but ive always gone for 1 sound and never venture away.

Tho when recording straight thru (w/o a mic'ed amp) i do start flat and adjust. but live ... my ****'s at 11 LoL
