I actually did a black one awhile back because I loved that look and was thinking of having a custom body made like that to hold me over until I can get my Desert Gold JP (and since at the time there wasn't much talk of it being a production run).

I posted about this thread in the jp.com gear forum. Maybe, JP will see it.
Problem is that JP doesn't frequent there much these days. Too bad too.
Well hopefully, he'll frequent here and see the thread, or as you said Paul or BP will show it to him.

You know what? Now I don't even care if this guitar comes out, looking at these pics is just so satisfying! They're tremendously beautiful. I would buy ANY one of them (including the original, of course!) though the maple board was a nice touch! This is a little slice of heaven here.

Imagine a full Mystic Dream finish on the guitar edges and a brighter see-through Mystic Dream finish around the center of the guitar with a quilted maple top beneath.
Have no idea how to possible make a picture that illustrates this though...

Aside from the inlays, that's pretty close to what I was thinking (different pickups, inlays and neck work). Very cool man
That and the Desert Gold JP would make me rather happy for awhile

Long time, no post for me...but thi thread has brought me back!
WOW! I remember when the JP model first came out and I fell in love with it! I've only played one once but it was simply amazing!
I have always dreamt of a maple top JP model, and now it's finally (hopefully) going to happen!
I gotta say, the pickup rings aren't doing much for me, but it's a small price to pay to have a Quilted JP!
