anyone ever play an olp jp?

I can't wait for my JP any longer... I'm even considering getting an OLP JP to pass the time...

I wouldn't waste your money bro... they don't seem to retain any resale value, and it won't hold a candle to the real deal. Might make for a cool project though

I've played an OLP Axis - a bit of fret re fettling and it's a nice guitar.
+1 on the resale value though.

Hell yeah bro, maybe have it painted in some wild scheme and some sweet pickups. My old OLP axis copy DID play awesome with a setup (nowhere near a MM mind you), so you might have a hella fun project with that

what i want to do is probably do my own paint job on it... replace the frets, the pickups and what not... see what i come up with... i think it'll be fun

My advice; Not worth it. The only reason I still have mine is all the upgrades I put in it, (and it was my first guitar.)

if it's only for accompany you while you're waiting for the real one, i think it's okay to buy JP OLP.

well, i also did that while i was waiting for my ebmm luke last year.. i bought OLP and use it for 6 month before i play ebmm luke.

it feels similar (the shape). but the quality is far below ebmm.

Dude, according to your signature you already have an EBMM SS guitar to play with for the next few months. I just don't see the point in purchasing and playing an OLP when you have a perfectly good EBMM (I assume) sitting in its case!

I hear ya, but the OLP ain't a JP. Your Silo Spec is probably closer to a JP than the OLP guitar.

edit: Also, before you go forking out $300-ish for the OLP, legally steal a Sub 1 for about that on ebay. It isn't a JP but it might kill your "I need a new guitar" bug

It gives you peace of mind when you take it anywhere too, I have yet to even get one scratch on mine, yet they play and sound better than anything I've ever touched. Like a Z06 Corvette with armor

As an owner of an OLP JP i can honestly tell you this.... don't waste your time. The only (and I mean only) reason I bought one is because I got it off ebay for $125. The only things it shares in common with the EBMM is the body shape. The neck, the pups, the tuners... pretty much everything about it just doesn't hold a candle to the real deal.

Yes you could keep it around to mod and mess around with, but once you get the real deal, the OLP will sit in its case and any money you sunk into it will be all for naught. I only keep mine now because it has a backplate signed by JP at a clinic. If my nephew takes up guitar, it will go to him. It is a good starter guitar, nothing more.
