Love that stingray sound! :) That's why I have 2 of them and thinking of buying second SR5. Still can't decide on the colour though.

But.... I still would like an old jazz bass in my collection as well.
Hope you guys don't mind.

I'll say this...my wife bought me an MTD USA bass, wenge neck, walnut top and active suite and I still love a Stingray. She paid almost 5 grand for this piece, and I love it and in most ways it dominates an EBMM, but the Stingray has a flavor it cant exactly touch, thats why I always come back to the mighty ray. Its like comparing disney land to knotts berry farm...just diffrent. HOLLA!!!!BP my wife thinks your whole bald look is cute.....dmn bro you a chick mag or what? And my wife is 24!!!!...LOL...from Newport I might add. She is a 56th street local, grew up on lagunia off of PCH in the hood by the Froghouse if you remember where that is at down in NB. She rides goofy and throws a mean ass spray to the NE locals out here......MISS THE WESTSIDE!!!!!!!!

It's really kind of frustrating. It's a quite nice 62 Reissue MIA Jazz in Oly White and the thing just sits in the dark.

Ah well, what are you gonna do?

Would she actually know it's gone if you sell it, would she really mind..................

24
surfs (goofy footed to boot, Chuck that is the surfing eq to left handzia)

I'm pretty sure it was an Anniversary present. Considering Jack hasn't had much trouble increasing his stable of Musicman basses, I'm not sure it's worth risking testicular relocation.

Yeah, posting a topic like this here is kind of oxymoronic, but I'm sorry to be on the same side of the original poster.

I have had 3 SR4s, 2 Sterlings, and 3 SR5s. They are all gone in place of Fenderish J/J or P/J (pickup configuration) basses.

Love EBMM as a company, product quality, service, etc. - but the MM sound (mainly the single MM pickup location) was not for me.

Maybe I just need to come along a lefty Bongo to make me change my mind.

Well at owning over 150 Old fender basses from 1952 to 1967 I'm certainly won't knock em. As far as reissues go or New tech fenders I won't waste my time, tried them and not even close.
Been playing Music Man basses steady since 1986 when i got my first Ernie Ball Stingray and since then the fender basses are retired, Sold some to buy the new house and every once in a while still use a J Bass for a session. but 99.9% it's an Ernie Ball Music Man Bass.

I use all my basses regularly: a Hamer USA 2-TEK CruiseBass, a fretless MIJ Jazz Bass, 2 P-Basses, a 1967 Kay M-3 upright and my new active SUB-5. They have different characters and sounds; I'm not sick of any of them. I like them all and my next purchase will be a 4-string StingRay. As far as I'm concerned the more tone options I have, the better off I am. Comparing Rays to P-Basses to J-Basses is like comparing Chevies to Fords to Pontiacs...they're not necessarily better or worse, just different. I will say that my SUB-5 is, dollar for dollar, the best built bass I've ever seen; my departed Reverend was close but the SUB wins.

Sounds to me like you dumped EBMM a little too soon. You might like to try one of the new two pickup models.

I've successfully kept my wife from this forum...

Might just be for not though, as I am unsure about keeping her away from Dallas...

I am loving the #4 switch position on my HH Sterling these days. It has this Jazzy growl but totally sounds like a MusicMan - so awesome!
