I've only just started using a Stringray (a 2005 LTD Buttercream SR4HH/Rosewood) but I've been a Jazz bass player for some time now.

I still love the tone and feel of a Jazz bass but my Stingray cuts through the mix like nothing else that I have used before. I got a lot of compliments from my bandmates. Plus, my Stingray is top-notch in the quality department.

One last thing, even though my Stingray is an HH, I find myself using the position 1 setting the most. I really don't think I'm going to get tired of the tone.

+1, the other positions sound great but
position 1 works best for me most of the
time.

Anyone? I know its starting to get to me. Im wanting a jazz agian.

Try turning the knobs. I find any slight turn of any knob on my SR4H will noticably change the tone.

I use to only play jazz basses but since I got my first EBMM bass I don't even take out my JB anymore. I even went to the local GC to check out the AeroDyne JB. I loved that bass. Then I saw that ugly thing called a "Bongo" and said "what the heck?". I tried that bass and have never looked back! I now have 2 Bongos, 1 StingRay and as soon as I can get the $$$ I will get a SR 4HH.

I can't even believe you posted this  If you really feel that way then go get a JB and be happy.

Good luck.
