I'm currently looking for another EBMM bridge like the one on my Silhouette.

I have two identical necks and am currently working on a design using both necks with the same bridge and electronics layout for two different tunings on a double neck instrument.

If I can't find another like it then I'll just get two other compact hard tail bridges instead, and alter the body I'm making.

That's what I figured.

Seems I'll be better off parting out unneeded bridge and body.

Such a funny chain of events.

I loved the neck on an Ernie Ball Axis I had, but wanted a slightly different body (with more of an arm contour).

I tracked down a Silhouette that shipped with a spare neck and planned on turning around and selling the Silhouette right away. I ended up playing it for the past couple years while I built this kickin' spalted maple body.

I was going to perfectly content with the 24 fret Silhouette neck.....

but then I got this Esquire with a solid rosewood neck....

I did the contour mods on the front and back like a strat, and put in the overwound tele pickup with the vintage coil tap.... but now I'm completely infatuated with rosewood necks!!!!

I also saw that EBMM did a run of rosewood necked instruments.... damn my timing. :p

Anyways... a luthier friend of mine agreed to build me a custom rosewood neck for the spalted guitar.... which leaves me again with TWO Silhouette necks. :)

The subs have the same style bridges, too. You might have luck finding a second hand one. If you wanted a trem- the OLP trem looks to be pretty close. There are a few on eBay.

What does a spalted maple body sound like? It looks very nice.

The body is a one piece mahogany blank with a chamber in it. Very light.

The spalted maple top isn't that different than any other maple top... except maybe a bit lighter and more porous (like swamp ash versus ash). The spalting happens when the wood is wet and moisture works into the grain of the wood. When the wood is dried, mineral deposits are left behind (some say rotting, but this is a stable condition that doesn't change).

A true spalted top (not a veneer) requires a good penetrating finish because the dark spots can be weaker and chip. I only worked the tru-oil thick and deep on the top to seal and protect the wood. The sides and back have a hint of grain left so the finish is protecting but thinner.

The body is incredibly light, so combined with the chamber, should make a really resonant body.
