I'm looking to finally step into a 4x12 cabinet after being a 2x12 guy. I'm looking to pair this with my JTM45. I've been looking more specifically at the Orange PPC412 (4x12) cabinet. Any opinions? I see that Orange now offers a angled 4x12 as well.

Other cabinet recommendations are welcome. I'm looking at spending roughly $1000.

Thanks :)

Have one. Love it. My Marshall slant cab now serves as a tv stand. Very heavy though...

That's OK I don't get out much ;)

Does Guitar Center carry Orange cabinets? I have a $100 gift card that I would like to burn up. I've been sitting on for almost a year

Nope nope nopers. Orange will only allow 1 dealership within a certain range and almost every gc falls within other dealers territory...

My buddy works at a store that does carry orange but they are in jersey. You could check the gc used site though. We do have some used orange gear at different places. I got my tiny terror used from gc and my cab new from neal's in Huntington beach...

If the modern ones are like the ones I experienced in the 70's - better get yer roadie a weightlifters belt because they were so heavy - they made them with much thicker timber than Marshall/Hiwatt/Laney back then.

They weigh around 100 lbs. I immediately noticed an improvement in tone. They do not have casters (for stability reasons) but they do have "sliders" on the bottom that are not too useful. I love mine it's just a pain to lug. Literally.

And Sir Spud - isn't that why they put wheels on them or used dollies or hand carts.... lol[/url]

Hee hee yeah I guess so. Its been over 30 years since I had a full time roadie and I don't fancy hauling those monsters my F50 combo is heavy enough.

I remember when I bought my Les Paul from Orange in London in 73 i had a good look at all their gear and everything was soooo much more chunky!!

I used a Sound City 4 x 12 with a horn ( a PA cab) that we litterally used to slide / toboggan down stairs :D
My ex bass player still has 2 Orange amp heads that he gigs regularly and they have never let him down. He always places the head on a slab of foam rubber to protect it from vibration.

Are they still made in the UK?

I have the straight. I don't really know why but I'm not that keen on angled cabs anymore... Did you get an orange tolex orange or one of the black tolex oranges?

The one I ordered has Orange tolex.

I always liked angled cabs for some reason
