You know, I have to admit that I really like the pickups in the OLP MM1 - if I ever do decide to pick one up, I don't think I'll bother swapping them out; they sound like great pickups to me, especially for the $$$...

Well, I dont have the MM1, but the Silo HSS copy and I well, regret buying it. It's impossible to setup well, it doesnt stay in tune well, it sounds like garbage, buzzing&tuning, it feels ok, it just doesnt sound good.

It comes not even within a mile of the Axis or SS. If I could have my 250 or so bucks back for it I would take it. I have a high quality taste though, I dont like to settle for less when more is out there....

That being said as soon as my bass woes are fixed a taylor acoustic and an axis are in my future. Or maybe I will learn to setup guitars better and fix this puppy who knows. But as it stands I'm dissapointed.

I just got one....

I just bought one a couple of weeks ago and was really impressed. It took a bit of setting up though. I took the neck off and gave it the gunstock oil & wax treatment and now the neck feels much like my Albert Lee did. Not as pretty, but pretty much the same feel. I anchored the trem down as I don't use it anyway. I have gotten and DiMarzio Fred and PAF Pro that I plan of installing; although the stock pickups actually are nice.

I have been playing it so much that I could almost call it my #1. I played a concert at a buddy's church and one of the basists there works at a music store who is a EBMM dealer. He owns a Sting Ray and a 5-string SUB. He couldn't believe how it sounded. He said that they make fun of them at the store all the time. When he saw mine, he said he had some really sarcastic thoughts. Then he heard it and was eating crow mentally. That was a real compliment. All in all, I'm very happy with mine; especially after I install the new pickups.

On another note, has anyone had the need to go to a heavier guage of strings? I got mine and it had 9's. I went to my usual Ernie Ball Regulars; but they still feel a bit too light. I might move to the Power Slinkies and see what happens...

Butch,
What's up with the headstock? I thought the big deal about the OLP's was the 4x2 headstock licensing from EBMM...

curious.

I think that image is a Peavey Wolfgang.

Nope. Not a Wolfgang. Body isn't the same nor is the Headstock.

Not sure what it is but it isn't an OLP neck either.
