Or the Autumn Redrise Sunset or whatever that JP color was. That was hideous. Just sayin....

For the record, I love rosewood, it just depends on the color schemes. I LOVE the all Rosewood Axis line. Just gorgeous. I will get another one of those someday.

Just an aside - apparently the story goes like this, now sit back and listen to Uncle Spud.

Leo Fender was watching his guitars being used on TV, and he was shocked to see that his lovely looking maple fretboards weren't looking good - because the lacquer had been worn away and the fretboard was looking "patchy". He instructed that rosewood should be used because the wear couldn't be seen so easily on the RW necks on tv.

I ordered some stuff called Fret Doctor/Bore Oil that is very good for preserving hardwoods like ebony and rosewood. It's got a small following for making boards darker by restoring boards to their original state. Anyways here is the before and after on my sub.

I think it looks more healthy and amazing.

Read about it here.

i'm a bit on the fence. i've a maple neck'd axis and it sounds superb & crispy. one thing that the rosewood of my JP does do is add a little more warmth and bottom to my tone.

i'm preferring maple more and more but i think i need rosewood to give me the varied tone options.
