That's good man! I actually call my dream guitar the Petaxis because it's just a Petrucci seven string (with piezo of course) with the see through quilted top and birdseye maple board like on the Axis. Now if EB would just build me one. :D
Ditto, except I like Rosewood boards. A quilted JP would be killer. Of course they'd have to use a thick piece of maple because of the 3/8" radius filets (I'm guessing on the number) around the body edges.

I don´t own one.. yet. But the one I tried out in a store was just awesome, fell in love with it! Too bad it didn´t have a piezo in it...

I´m saving money to get one (6-string, piezo, matching headstock... don´t know in which color though) later this year.

Koogie2k will probably agree with me on this, check out a Radience Red Petrucci, it looks sweet, l have a Radience Red Petrucci with Black headstock and it looks fantastic. I also like black, l have got a thing with black guitars, or a dark color.

Good lukc man, you'll end up with one fantastic guitar, this l will guarantee.

Scott.

I have a 79 Les Paul Custom, Carvin DC727 and a Carvin Bolt + but my Petrucci is my favorite guitar. It's the best neck in the world.

Yeah, that´s a sweet color, but the last two guitars I´ve bought have been red ones. My faves are Egyptian Smoke, Medallion Gold and Buttercream.

Is this Buttercream color still available? Are there any extra costs to the list price?

But I´m sure the color won´t matter in the end.

Yes Buttercream is still available, l think they are doing a limited run od that color, like the Radience red.

Yeah, if the color sounds and plays great, who cares what color it is. As long as it's not pink, that is.

I must be the exception to the standard when it comes to the petrucci. I have one and love it. more and more when I have to travel or need to use a guitar with a trem, I grab the petrucci - but I didn't fall in love with it the first time I played it.

I coulden't figure why the store wanted $1200 for the petrucci when another store across town had a sil for $650. I imagined it was because the headstock said "petrucci" and little more. also, the petrucci I was trying out had the color matched headstock and the "JP" inlays (which just really didn't work for me). after playing the sil, then the petrucci, and going back and forth for a couple of weeks, I found a 6 string petrucci in carbon blue pearl wiith an unpainted headstock, no piezos, and no "JP" inlays for $800 and that was it. I always prefered the petrucci's neck over the sil's, although I really haven't found the body scoop for your right arm all that more comfortable over not having one there - but I wear my guitar a little high, so that might explain it. all around, the petrucci is what Ibanez and the like WISH they were.

Ripley,

I didn't love the JP the first time I played it. I liked it, but I was so accustomed to Wizard-2 necks that it felt a little odd to me.. odd, but not uncomfortable. I also wasn't thrilled with the placement of the mag pickup toggle, as I kept hitting it by mistake.

I took the plunge anyway and bought one (w/all options), and I haven't played a Wizard-2 neck since. In fact, I haven't touched another guitar for months. I also very quickly adjusted my technique to avoid the toggle, and now I really like the plaement of it... I can flick it with minimal movement of my picking hand.

Probably? No. Definitely agree with you. But, mine has the matching headstock. Nothing wrong with the black headstock, but I like mine to match. Preference really. But, my Pearl Redburst has a natty headstock (I love that one too).....I'm a Prima Donna so don't listen to me.......

I was the same when l first got mine, cause l was so used to my Luke neck, l was also uncomfortable playing 10's, so l put 9's on my Pet, and it feels great and still sounds great.

The first couple of band practises l kept hitting the pickup selector switch, but l think it's like a blessing in disguise. Cause it helps you take smaller strocks when playing guitar, and helps with speed picking, and rhythm playing. But it didn't take long to stop knocking it.

I was just talking about how much you love your radience red color, as l do, cause like yourself, you don't realize how beutiful the color is until you see one in person. Red headstock black headstock Tomartos tomatos. same thing it's a great guitar whatever the color is.

Yeah, I know. You are absolutely right about that Rad Red. I like it as much as the Blue Dawn to tell you the truth. It really took my breath away when I saw it close and personal. I hate the color red. I am a blue fan all the way, but that Rad Red is the best!
