My title says it all. Just wondering if any one is or has run EMGs in their Axis/ Ass'? Please let us know your thoughts on it.

, not sure I have seen a Mod like that but maybe some one has done it, if i was going to do that Mod it would be with an AL SSS or a Silo Special SSS or HSS, but again buy the Luke

beagles, a luke has a trem and different woods. plus, suppose he wants a bucker in the neck?
vail, thats a good question cuz i'm thinking of putting emgs on an MM, just don't know where. i think i'll do it on my future Y2D since i really like the sound of my mm90s.
but the real question is, which emg in the bridge? 81? 85?

LOL the truth is this. I found a decent deal on a used regular ASS with piezo (not the RW) and I have been thinking about buying it. I would be putting the 81tw and the 89 in it. I actually might put the 81 in the neck as EMG says that will really warm it up. Of course it's easy to switch them if I don't like it. I might also do 2 89s
I am going to wire it like this neck hum- neck single- both hums- both singles- bridge hum
Basically I am wondering if any one has run EMG's in the ASS because of your comment about the wood combo. I have played and owned EMG's in the past but never with this wood combo. Truth be told I have not played a basswood guitar in years and never thought I would again (but we won't talk about that here)

I am sure I have seen an Axis with EMG's on the forum. I am sure it was an amber one....

Assuming the p'ups will fit in the route, this should be quite do-able. You could email EMG and see if they know. I'm sure somebody's done it before.
Only hitch is that you'll be feeding the active signal from the EMG preamp back into the MM preamp (to mix with the peizos). Probably not an issue, but might take some experimentation if the tone isn't to your liking. Running it through two preamps might introduce extra noise in the signal.

I assume they will fit. It is suposed to be a standard replacement in terms of size. Do we know if maybe the axis is routed shallow or something? I have heard that I can power the pickups using the same battery that the piezo uses but I don't mind wiring the emg's so they have there own battery. I am actually prob going to have them wired for 18v any way.

An ASS with piezo would not be my first choice as a platform for active pickups. The stock pots are soldered onto a PCB, which contains the pre-amp for the piezo system, and since you'll have to replace the 500k pots with 25k ones, you just might end up having to replace the PCB, and there goes your piezo.
I suppose one could modify the guitar in such a way as to maintain a working piezo system and have the active pickups, but it seems that it would take a lot of work.

That is intersting. I had never heard that before. Do all the guitars with piezo's have the pots soldered to a circuit board?

i've also been thinking of getting the soapar variety and sticking them in my mm90 ass but i dunno if they evey fit.... on the plus side, its got the batt compartment already in.
