Anyone Score At GC's Black Friday?

I visited my closest GC this morning armed with my 2-hour 20% off coupon. This was my first experience at any "Black Friday" event. It was swamped at 8:10am. Probably 300+ people stuffed inside and 5 salesmen working the floor at best. I pushed through the throngs and only found only one MM - an Axis quilt with floyd. I almost picked up a Peavey Classic 50 2X12 amp marked down to $399, but the salesguy wouldn't honor the 20% coupon because it was already deeply discounted. Plus, they only had the floor model left. I left empty handed.

Any other stories?

It was too crazy in the shopping center where the GC is here...it was taking people hours to park and get out of the the lot...lines backed up at all the stores....NO THANK YOU!

Place was packed but I was able to get a furman pl-8...................just need to know your way around the store. The lines in the guitar section were massive but the lines in the drum section were short.

Had a co-worker who went before they opened...he called me from the parking lot to say "forget it". He stood in line to get in the store, then couldn't even move around.

A friend of mine is visiting some family in the US this weekend and was planning on hitting a GC for the Black Friday sales so hopefully he does because my instructions were: "if you see any pedal under $75 that is normally waaaay more.... get me two" so we'll see if I get any mystery fun pedals to run my bass through

That sucks as a guy on another forum picked up a new C50 for $338 total with the coupon. Why honor it at one store but not the other?

I went to a small GC in New Hampsire, they didn't have one EBMM. The place was packed wall to wall people, I was going to get some strings, I passed.

"little" holiday crowd? I imagined people were waiting in line for 2 hours to buy a pack of strings....and you had to listen to 34 teenagers play out of tune versions of "smells like teen spirit" and "stairway to heaven" cranked thru Crate stacks....torture, my friend....torture.

I told our boss Monday we needed to have one and we did!! First time she's actually listened to me. We were slammed. Too bad she waited till my last week to listen to one of my ideas and lo and behold it worked. I sold more today than I did the whole first half of October.

Really wanted to go, but 8:00 A.M. is such an ungodly hour and 20% off is not that great when you compare to the electronics stores that are losing big money on items just to get you in the store. I also really wanted to score a half price laptop at Best Buy but camping overnight is just crazy. I went a little later and got a widescreen LCD.
