I'd like to get one, but the Bongo five is just under 48" long, and the link here

404 Not Found 1

says the bag is 46". I'm hoping that's a conservative estimate, and that the bass will actually fit in there. Can anyone confirm if it does?

Thanks!

Can't confirm or otherwise, but my Under Cover gig bag is just long enough for the Bongo 5. In fact, if it was 1/2" longer I coundn't close the zipper.

Nothing that says "Warwick" on it touches my hands..end of story.

Ahh...I only meant to use it as protection. Underneath the latex the goods are still the same right?

I don't know about the Rockbag, but the Carvin gig bags are between 47 and 48 inches. I think there's enough play for a 48 inch bass. Their old bags were garbage. The new bags are pretty solid and cost $30. They do say Carvin, though. You could spray paint ST over the C.

Heh...says the guy selling Lakland and KSD Fender clones. ;) :D

Touche'...mainly I just dislike Warwicks due to their baseball bat necks. Same with the modern Rickenbacker 2x4 necks. I actually almost bought a sweet limited edition Thumb a few years ago that The Bass Place in Tempe had hanging on their wall.

Heh. I'm just tweakin' ya. I agree about the necks. They seem well made, but I really can't wrap my head or hand around that profile.

The only Warwick I've played that made me even consider giving it a second look wsa the ltd ed Jack Bruce fretless from a couple of years ago. Of course, it was still a neck divin' fool, and I can think of much better ways to spend $3000 (ie two more Bongos and a couple of really fun evenings at a strip club).

Back to the thread:

As for bags for the Bongo 5, I've been extremely happy with my Levy's leather gigbag. It fits just fine. I can't recommend Levy's highly enough. In fact, if I find that I ever need another single gigbag, I know someone who can hook a brother up with a sweet non-leather Levy's bag with a cool-ass skull with bass tuners on it. He can probably even check to see if a Bongo 5 fits in it with little problem.

OK. I just tried to fit my Bongo 5 in the Warwick Rock bag. (Yes, I own and love both). It will go in, but it is tight. There are zipper issues (scratch hazard). Maybe in an emergency only. Really too tight for comfort. Sorry.

I have many bags, but only one RockBag. What a mistake. Definitely shorter than most bags. Absolutely forget it for the Bongo. I use it for a Fender Mustang, which is one of the larger 30" scale basses, but still it's a 30, and it fits like custom made.

Longer-than-average gigbags include the K-Aces, the Roadrunner [both from my local GC] and a premium model Ritter [from a real music shop]. All these will fit the Bongo but you still have to ease it in, zip the side up, shake it down, and zip the top carefully.

When you get a bag for an overlength ax, avoid designs with the zipper set along the center of the edge. The zipper will saw away at the finish on the tip of the headstock, and if the fit is really snug the bass might split the zipper. The other bag design has a sort of "side wall", more of a 3-dimensional design, with the zipper way off center. The Rockbag has the proper design, but it's way to short. The typical Levy's 2-dimensional bag [with centered zipper] is 'full size' but not oversize, so it's also too short for a Bongo.

Hey, thanks for testing it. I love how people help you out here. I just got the Carvin bag.
