When it arrives I'll be using my Bongo for Church Ministry. Anyone else use their Bongo in Church? If so, what kind of reaction do you get from the Pastor and or the congregation?

I mean it does have a different look than mainstream basses like Fenders, Gibson and Stingrays.

I am going to play my Dargie Delight Sterling at church, with the martinit and olive inlays.

My Pastor is a rock and roller. :p

Over the years have played in 3 churches. No one cared which bass I played. I have played my Bongo in church quite a bit over the past couple of years. While the Bongo might seem a bit different to bass & guitar players, to the general public it just doesn't look that different.

I take all my Balls to church;) Noone has ever commented on the Bongo as far as looks. One time I had a guy come up, shake my hand, tell me how much I rocked, and my bass sounded so good. I was playing the Bongo4HH at the time:)

This story is true and I’d swear on a stack of Bibles, hotel Bibles too, not those worn out things they have at church, but crisp, unused Bibles!

One time BP was over in Europe on business and somehow, being BP and all, he got to meet the Pope! There was this huge crowd, people from all over the world were cheering the Pope, but when the Pontiff brought BP out, the crowd went nuts! The cheers were deafening and this CNN reporter covering the event asked one of the crowd “who is that man?”

The guy said, “I don’t know who the guy with the fancy suit and hat is, but the guy next to him in the Hawaiian shirt is Sterling Ball!” :D

… only a joke, but any joke remotely religious is risky and I’ll be happy to yank it if anyone is offended. Hell it ain’t even my joke, I just used a little artist license…

I will when I get it.
Me too. Mine is due to arrive on Wednesday. The excitement is building........4HH. I'm hoping that it not going to be hard to dial in a good tone right off.

I may play our Wednesday night service if the Bongo arrives in time. Our Worship team will be playing a women's retreat Friday night. Then a Sunday morning Service, then a special Sunday night service that an out of state Evangelist will be preaching. Plus the practice hours I will need to get comfortable with it. So it will be getting a real workout this week............:D

Well, I feel like I'm in church when I play my Bongo....

Might have something to do with the whole divine-light and choir-of-angels thing that happens every time I open the case.

:D
Must be one Great Bass...........:eek::cool: :) ;) :D

Any use their Bongo in church?

I use a Bongo 4HH at church. I tried other makes, both J and P, but none "cut through the mix" or bring such ability for a multitude of sounds/styles :D

One thing for sure the bongo is easy to dial in the best bass sound there ever was. IMHO.

It will be fine playing in any church.

imho

Bongos in church

I've used bongos in church for 3 yrs, and always get compliments on the sound. (However the techs can mix any instrument well) I've had several people come up after the service and ask about the bass, so I ask them, is it the tone or the look?
usually the immediate response is "it just sounds so great' and looks so cool.
I run through the Avalon direct, and use in ears and get the best bass tone anyone would want.
I started using the Dargie bongo. Lots of compliments, especially on the inlays and the color. But its not all about ego is it?

OMB - if you have a iChat / AIM name, look me up sometime, of not, PM me sometime - I'd love to know your churches '' song list '' -- it may help me think of new, different songs for my church to start playing. Thanks.

I've used my Lava Pearl HH in church for about 3 years now. Nobody has gone away screaming, no lightning bolts and the roof hasn't caved in. Must be OK.
