Aren't there any famous replacement pickup companies or small handmade pickup shops out there that provide replacements for Sabres? And: Did you contact EBMM Customer Service about this? (maybe silly questions, but sometimes the obvious gets overlooked)

Actually I offered one my Sabre for reverse engineering but they wanted to gig me $50.00 an hour to allow them to devise a new product they could sell.

Nope.

is that a G&L? it look way to big!

i don't want to route the body..:(

I wasn't going to tear the Sabre or the pickup apart. They are the same size and the apparent difference is an illusion due to the other pup sitting on top of the strings.

i can remember that the sabre pickups are a tad bit smaller than stingray pickups, so that's not an option either. I think the bass is rare enough with odd pick up sizes that it isn't practical for an after market company to build any sort of copy. The sabre seems to be more of an enthusiast instrument. You best bet might be to go on a treasure hunt or pay someone big bucks to make a copy that'll fit into the routings already in place in the sabre bass.

Some of the small bass and pickup manufacturers over here make their own pickup covers out of wood. That may look totally different, but you can hide almost any coil combination with it.

May that be an option?

Dude..... Read the thread, the OP does not have the original pickups, he owns the bass without them.

I say get the g&l pups and shape those to fit the bass instead of routing the body.

That way you can play the bass until you find a set of original Sabre pickups ;)
