Well....I have now decided that these basses are like Crack!!! No sooner had I brought home my first SR4, I began GASing for an SR5. Plus, I needed one that I could play live and be ok with it getting abused. (I mean a 2006 LE SR4HH is just too pretty to get sweat and Jager on!) Anyhow....I walk into the local GC yesterday to see if anything of interest came in. I found a new OLD stock SUB SR4......for about 1/2 the typical street price. Passive , 2 band, black, and absolutely neglected since it left the factory. (reads "dirty") Well....I had to have it. So a little polish, saddle tweaking and new set of Slinky 105's and she is sitting pretty next to my LE. I am not sure of her apprx birthday but SN X07###. I know....no pics, no bass....but my cam is f-ed up! I will get pics of both ASAP. Oh damn....I still need a 5er!!!......

PS...Can anyone give me the low down as to the spec differences of a SUB and reg SR4???? (other than passive.)

The sub is ready to be a cult classic now that we dont make it. It saved our company pretty much when we couldnt get anyone to pay atention to what we were making. Everything was about how cheap you could go. It allowed us to get the a production level that made us secure.

WE couldnt keep making it anymore due to all of the rising costs but the sub will always be a speial little workhorse.

The passive option was in response to some players saying that they would play our basses but were getting away from active. Dudly created a KILLER passive and almost nobody bought it. It is the rarest of subs, for what that is worth.

BP, how rare are the fretless passive SUBs? Actually, what was the ratio of fretless to fretted SUBs in general, passive and active? I was honestly very surprised to see a fretless model in the SUB line when I first was introduced to them.

BP, Thanks so much for the insight. I agree about the passive p/u, very hot and punchy with a ton of mid-growl. My first thought while I was driving home with the SUB was to replace the p/u with a 2 band active, etc. But then I did a quick set-up and changed the strings. I have since changed my mind!! Was the main cost cutting feature in the finish and neck?? Again, thanks for making some seriously kick-booty instruments!!!!
