I'm old, poor, live in the UK and play in a reggae band, not a good combination right?

Having previously owned and let go of (financial reasons) two Silos and a JP6, today I got my hands on a rather lovely Axis Supersport in Vintage sunburst.

It's a bit early to say but I think this guitar could be the one for me, absolutely everything about it feels, looks and sounds right, I wish it had a rosewood board as I'm not a huge fan of fighting the losing battle to keep the maple board clean but that aside, it was a good price, is in mint condition and I'm loving it.

Could you please let me have a DOB for this one, I'd be most grateful, its serial is....G33718

Many thanks,
Charlie.

join the club!!! but i also play an ASS.. i lost the fight with my maple fretboard long ago!! but it still plays every time i ask it to.. every session, every stage.. it just does the job terrifically..

good choice.. enjoy it and lets brave the credit crunch in London in the safe knowledge that we can always come here to cry about it!

I hear you. I'm a rosewood guy but fell in love with an ASS w/ maple board that I have been playing for nearly a year now... Impossible to keep the board clean. Oh well, you can't win everything

Many thanks,

This SuperSport was done on 11/28/06 and originally sent to our UK distributor, Strings & Things.

Just to say thank you most kindly for the information....so that's 28/11/06 then, right? flippin' Americans, they might make the best guitars in the World but ask them the date and you'll get about three different versions depending upon which State you happen to be in at the time

Have to admit, I'm really at a loss to understand why a guitar which costs 1300GBP brand new is designed specifically to encourage the neck to get filthy dirty? However much you wash your hands before playing, however many barrels of Murphy's you soak the thing in, if it is gigged regularly the maple board will rapidly look like it's been played by the local car mechanic in between jobs! I know some people favour (favor) the lived-in look but being as anally retentive as I am, it kind of upsets me to see a gloriously finished rear end all sparkly and clean with a neck which looks like it was robbed from Rory Gallagher's Strat....oh well, I'll just sign up for a bit more OCD therapy and get on with playing the thing, I've already bonded with it, there's no going back now.

So before it gets unduly soiled, here's a picture of my new baby, rather lovely isn't she?

God bless, Charlie.

Charlie, congratulations on a great looking Super Sport.

My personal prefernce is for the unfinished neck, just because it feels really good to me. As fot it getting dirty, some manufacturers would charge extra for that :D
